Kendall POV
Katelyn was always so difficult.
"Katelyn, I'll tell you, just go with Bruce. Please." There was short silence over the phone.
"Alright, I'll be there soon."
"Thank you." She hung up the phone and gave a long sigh. I stood up and Logan came into my office.
"Did Bruce go get Katelyn?" I nodded.
"Yeah." Things were kind of tense between us. He turned away and started to go out the door.
"Logan." He turned around and looked at me. "I'm sorry about...the...other day." He shrugged.
"Yeah...me too." He left the room and shut the door gently as he left. Well, at least I tried because I didn't have to say jack shit. I really don't give a crap.
A few minutes later, I saw Katelyn, Kylie and Bruce come in.
"Thanks, man." I gave Bruce a bro hug. He smiled.
"Aw it's nothin', but I think you have more important things to attend to." He said in his thick Irish accent. He looked at Katelyn, then to me. He whispered. "Good luck, she does not play."
"Tell me about it." He turned around.
"Nice to meet you Katelyn, Kylie." He nodded at them.
"You too Bruce." Katelyn said. He went out the door and then she looked at me. "Kylie, why don't you go up to your room or something, I have to talk to your father." Kylie gave me a 'you're dead' look. Wow, no sympathy from anyone.
"Alright." Kylie said and trotted up the stairs toward her room. Katelyn directed her gaze to Logan, Carlos and James who were sitting on the couch. She raised her eyebrows.
"Oh would ya look at the time. Guys, we gotta be at that...thing." James said.
"Oh yeah, that thing that's happened at that place," Carlos added on. I rolled my eyes. Logan lightly smacked his forehead.
"I totally forgot about that thing, we need to go right now," Logan said as he, Carlos and James went out the front door. I sighed and motioned with my arms.
"Well, no witnesses. We're all alone, so you can smack me around all you want." She rolled her eyes.
"Kendall, I just want to know what the hell is going on." I nodded.
"Well, let's have a seat on the couch?" She nodded and followed me. She sat down first and I sat next to her. I grabbed her hand. "Remember those guys who asked if you knew me?"
"I do."
"Well I killed their leader and now they want me dead so..." She closed her eyes and sighed. I didn't want to tell her I killed someone.
"You killed him?"
"Yes, yes I did."
"Why?"
"He was stepping over the line and he was an enemy, so I took him out. I had to cut loose ends." She sat back and looked straight forward. "I didn't wanna tell you this, but you put me in a hard position." She shook her head.
"Kendall, why don't you just stop this?" Here we go.
"If I wanted to leave, I'd leave in a body bag. It's harder to leave than it is to stay in."
"I just-it's just so tiring, worrying about you. Hoping you live to see another day, Kendall. Sometimes, I can't sleep." I scooted closer to her and let my lips linger on her cheek.
"I know you do...I'm sorry. I can't just leave Katelyn, it's not easy and I have my own gang. My boss would get pissed at me and try and have me killed if I left." She looked up at me and shook her head.
"We go back and forth with this all the time, so let's not talk about it. This is your life, and you're so caught up in it already and I'm the one who came along for the ride."
"I put you in a difficult position. It's my fault you're in this and everything else." She caressed my cheek.
"It's alright, I suppose." I chuckled and kissed her on the lips.
"I'm gonna go check on Kylie." I patted her leg and got up. I went up to her room and opened the door.
"Kylie-." I looked around her room, she wasn't there. It looked like she had been in her bed. "Maybe she went to the bathroom." I went to the bathroom, but the door was open. "Kylie!" I yelled. No response. I went back to her bedroom and saw her phone smashed on the floor. Ok, red flag. A breeze hit me and the window was open. My adrenaline started rushing.
I went downstairs and ran across the backyard. I came to the bush and fence line and inspected. I saw pieces of wood laying on the grass and I followed it, I finally saw the breakage in the fence.
"Aw no, no, no, no..." My breathing became heavy as I looked back at Kylie's window, then the fence, the broken phone. "She's gone. She's gone!" I called James as I ran back to the house.
"James, bring your asses back here. Kylie's been taken!"
"W-what do you mean?!"
"She's gone!"
"Ok, we're on our way." I hung up and I was on the brink of tears and my adrenaline was running high. How am I supposed to tell Katelyn? I opened the back door and came inside.
"Everything alright?" I looked up at her and I knew she could tell something was up. "What happened? I heard you yelling?" I grabbed her arms.
"Katelyn..."
"What? Tell me." She looked up at me with so much worry. I broke down right there and she caught me in her arms. "Kendall, you're scaring me."
"She's gone Katelyn. I'm sorry."
"W-who's gone? Kendall who-Kylie..." She started crying.
"They took her." I straightened up a bit and wiped my tears. "I'm going to find her, I promise you." There was no point in talking to her now because she was crying uncontrollably in my arms.
"My baby!" She struggled to grasp a breath of air.
"I know, Katelyn. I know..."
Hope you liked it. Until Next Time.
