Mark's POV
Tomorrow we're going to get married! I'm so excited.
Sean's at work, his mother on a church trip, so I have the whole house to myself. Well, me and the twins.
I laid on the couch with the TV on while I was on my phone. It was good to have some background noise.
"Ow!" I flinched at the sudden pain in my stomach. "Stop that!" I put one hand on my stomach where I felt the pain. Lower on my stomach. The pain came again, but I didn't feel a kick or anything. Was that a contraction? I began to worry as the pains came irregularly.About 2 hours had passed and they kept coming, but had some regularity.
"Hey babe!" Sean came through the door.
"Hey hon." I tried not to gasp and failed.
"You ok?" He worried.
"Um. I think I'm having a few contractions." I hesitated because I didn't want to worry him.
"Um. Do we need to go to the hospital?" I could hear the worry in his voice. But he didn't freak out for my safety.
"No."
"Ok. I'm just worried about you." He said as he sat next to me on the couch.
"Um ya. Can you get the heating pad?" I asked.
"Ya sure." He left. And as soon as he did, a really powerful contraction came.
"Sean! Bring some Advil too!" I called.
2 minutes later he came back. And by then I was resituated on the couch laying flat.
"Mark I really think we need to go to the hospital." Sean said as he plugged the heating pad in and placed it on my stomach.
"But I'm early! They'll be premature." I frowned and rubbed my swollen stomach.
"Please. I just want my family to be ok." Sean pleaded.
"Fine. Go get the bags I'll get in the car."
Sean quickly jumped up and ran to our room. I slowly got up and went to the door, grabbing the car keys on the way.
"Gah." I gripped my stomach as a contraction came.
"Mark do you need help?" My fiance's Irish voice came from behind me as I gripped the door.
"No." He took the keys from my hand as I got to the car quickly.
I sat in the passenger seat even though Sean insisted I sat in the back.
"Don't go over the speed limit. We'll be ok." I gasped the words out of my mouth.
"I'll try not to." His voice cracked.
"Ahhh!" I shouted from the immensely painful contraction, startling Sean.
"Mark! Are you ok?!"
"No! Floor it!" He did as I said. The speedometer jumped to 50 as we pulled into the hospital parking lot.
He quickly shut off the engine and went around to my side of the car.
"You'll be ok." Sean repeated as he gripped my side and walked me through the doors.
The emergency room was packed. Not an empty chair was in sight. So I screamed to get someone's attention as another contraction came. The entire room was silent. At last it dawned on a nurse to get a wheelchair for me.
Sean had to leave my side to go to the car as people rushed all around me to get me ready.
