That was enough for me. I took off faster than a cheetah. I didn't know where I was going but I wasn't going to stick around to see where they were going to take me.
I felt like I had been running through the woods around the park for hours. I was lost. Very lost.
Then I heard her whisper. I couldn't tell where it was coming from. I had no idea which direction to go.
I finally stopped to catch my breath and felt a hand around my forearm. Out of instinct I jumped and turned around swinging.
"Aaron!" CeCe yelled.
Thank God I suck at throwing punches.
"Jeez you act like you've never been in the woods at night before."
I could barely see her but I still stared in amazement. What was she going to get me into?
"Just sit down over here and be quiet. They will leave eventually."
"Are we not supposed to be here or something?" I asked confused as to why they even showed up in the first place.
"Not at night." I could feel her evil smirk.
All I could do was shake my head.
"Just so you know. I would have kissed you back."
It was my turn for a smirk.
"You could try again if you wanted to." She hinted.
I wanted to. I really wanted to. But I didn't want to be all sweaty and covered in dirt when I did it.
"Nah the moments gone." I smiled even though I'm sure she couldn't see it.
"That's too bad. I waited a long time for that."
"What?"
Right back to confusion in five seconds flat. I've always heard guys say girls are emotional roller coasters but I was not expecting this.
"I kind of figured you didn't remember me when I saw you this morning."
"Remember you?"
"We used to go to school together. We had biology together. We sat at opposite ends of the room though so I'm not too surprised that you never noticed me. Especially since you were always off in your own little world somewhere."
"Yeah I had a lot going on."
"Obviously."
We sat in a weird silence for a while just watching the trees until curiosity took over.
"Why didn't you ever say hi or something." I asked.
"I never saw a point in making friends. I switched schools a lot."
"Military brat?"
"I wish." She sighed. "My parents are addicts. They couldn't afford to keep a home so we bounced from friends and families homes until someone called child protective services."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I like it here. It's stable." She laid her head on my shoulder and let out a deep breath.
"I'm sorry I didn't notice you."
"It's okay. You do know."
I smiled and laid my head on top of hers.
We must have fallen asleep. I opened my eyes to see the sun rising above the trees. I had almost forgotten where I was until I felt CeCe move.
"About time you woke up."
