(Several Months Later)

Sherlock stood outside the door to Molly's apartment. She hadn't contacted him in days, and he was starting to worry. John assured him that she was doing just fine, but Sherlock wanted to see for himself.

About two weeks prior, Eurus (Sherlock's sister who he hadn't known about for over thirty years) had forced him to call Molly and force her to say the words, "I love you" to him before time ran out. He had achieved the goal, but Molly had obviously not been happy about it.

Sherlock had felt terrible for forcing Molly to confess her love to him over the bloody phone, but he had had to do the same thing. He hadn't told her after she and Tom had broken up (Sherlock's deduction about him texting another woman had been right sadly) because he thought it had been too soon and then all the business with Magnussen had happened, and then Mary had died and Eurus had been revealed to him... Sherlock's life really was hectic.

So, two weeks after confessing their love for each other, Sherlock rang the doorbell to Molly's apartment. After a few moments of waiting, she came outside. When she saw Sherlock, she stiffened and looked away from him.

"What do you want?" she asked quietly.

"Molly, we need to talk," Sherlock said. "Do you mind if I come in?"

"If you have to," Molly sighed, standing aside so he could get inside of her apartment.

It was almost exactly as he remembered it. Toby immediately came trotting up to him and rubbed Sherlock's legs, purring. Sherlock smiled down at the cat and leaned down to scratch him. Molly directed Sherlock to the couch. They both sat in silence for a few minutes, Sherlock not knowing where to begin.

"Molly... I am so unbelievably sorry for what happened," he finally said.

"It's fine," Molly said harshly.

"No, let me apologize," Sherlock said. "I need to explain."

"Fine," Molly crossed her arms. "Let's hear it, then."

"About three weeks ago, when I was tackling the Culverton Smith case, I found out that I had a sister. She came to my flat posing as Smith's daughter and I was so high that I wasn't able to distinguish the two. She was also posing as John's therapist. You were in the same room with her. A little after that, she shot John with a tranquilizer. When he woke up, he relayed the information to me and we... confronted Mycroft about it. I learned that Eurus--that's her name, by the way--had been held in a high security prison called Sherrinford since early childhood.

"We went to confront her about how she escaped and she managed to put the whole place on lock down. She forced us to play a twisted game of life and death. You...you were one of her pawns in this game. She gave me three minutes to call you and make you say 'I love you' to me. She told me that there were bombs in your flat and if you didn't say those words in the time allotted, then you would die. That's why I sounded so panicked when you tried to hang up.
