The polished shoes hit the concrete pavement, hands were warm inside the pockets of his business suit trousers, head pulled firmly down, watching out for puddles that might get his shoes wet and muddy.
He stopped at the crossing and looked up briefly to press the button on the traffic light. There he saw a poster with a picture of a small little dog peering up at him plastered to the cylindrical post.
Underneath in bold letters,
Have you seen this dog?
She is a German Shephard and responds to the name Mrs Butterworth.
She is cold, hungry, dirty and alone!
If seen, please call the number below!
When the light turned red and all the cars stopped, he quickly crossed the street. Only on the other side did he whip out his phone and called the owners of the supposedly lost dog.
"Hello? Misha speaking." said the voice on the other side.
"Your dog, Mrs Butterworth, isn't really missing, is she?"
What made him think this?
