[Day 22]
It's a calm Saturday at the local Pacman Cafe in downtown Seoul. There isn't much people around and Hoseok likes it that way. And it's also good because he's been in an angst-y mood since Friday evening.
Namjoon is playing pacman on the old arcade, Jackson leans on the machine and takes a sip from his smoothie. Hoseok is sitting down on a plastic chair while burning the wall with a glare, a sneer on his lips which is rare because he's always smiling, even if it's at a wall.
"It's gone." Hoseok blurts out.
Namjoon asks distractedly, "What's gone, we can't read your mind idiot." Jackson ignores Hoseok and looks at Namjoon's pacman eat the little ghosts.
"Between me and Yoongi dumbass."
Jackson kicks at Hoseok and laughs at his yelp, "Was it really ever there?" He says while he takes another sip.
Hoseok throws daggers through his eyes at Jackson, "Well no," he admits and Namjoon hums in agreement, "but if we lived in an alternative universe where I am happy and good things happen to me than yes, we could have been there."
Jackson is looking at Hoseok as if he were out of this world, "Well, thank fuck that universe doesn't exists." And than throws the empty plastic cup at him.
"So what brought this whole 'gone and there' thing?"
Hoseok takes in a deep breathe, "Brace yourselves guys." Jackson and Namjoon turn to one another and shake their head in disgust.
[Yesterday]
The elevator is lonely with just Hoseok and Yoongi standing at different corners. They don't talk and the only sound is the jazz music coming from the speakers inside the elevator. Hoseok interrupts the silence by asking how Yoongi's week was.
"It was," Yoongi pauses for a moment, "good I guess?"
[Present day]
Jackson raises a hand midway in confusion, "So what?"
Hoseok looks at the two of them in disbelief, do they not see it?! "Like, can you believe that shit? What he told me?!"
Namjoon turns to him and frowns, "Hyung, he said that his week was good. What's so wrong about your week being good?"
Hoseok throws his hands, "That! Exactly that! He said 'It was good.' Not 'It was good.' As in, my week was completely awful and I hate working here with a bunch of morons, stop talking to me you creep."
It's silent between the trio and you can hear in the background Namjoon's pacman die, his glasses fall off his nose and make a clank sound, this... this is just. "What the fuck is wrong with you Hoseok?"
Jackson is wondering if Hoseok was dropped as a baby, maybe this explains the craziness of logic and common sense Hoseok withholds. "You're meaning to say that because Yoongi-hyung said that his week was good it means he has no interest in you?"
Hoseok nods and blesses the heavens that one of his friends understands him. Jackson starts to talk, "Why," but then stops himself, "never mind."
"I gave Yoongi plenty of chances to hint that I liked him, but he didn't notice or he ignored them. I'm hoping it's the latter one."
Namjoon speaks up next as he adds more change to the machine, "He probably ignored them, you know since he said his week was good."
"What fucking hints were you even throwing at him?" Jackson regrets asking as soon as the words leave his lips.
[Day before yesterday]
The office is pretty empty, with Namjoon playing music through his earphones and throwing what he thinks are sneaky glances at Seokjin. Mark and Jackson are flirting again, making Hoseok want to throw them both into a room so they can have sex.
Hoseok straightens up immediately when he sees Yoongi coming towards him and Namjoon turns in curiosity to see who it is, but then sighs loudly when it's only Yoongi.
"Erm, do you guys need anything from the storage room, I'm heading there right now." He says while balancing piles of folders and his phone. Those who hear him say no or shake their heads, but Hoseok smirks instead and says, "I think we both know what I need."
It's quiet for a moment, Yoongi staring at him in puzzlement, his nose scrunching a bit and his lips in a thin line. Namjoon heard that through his earphones and he tries really hard not to cringe.
Hoseok flushes red and stutters out a no, making Yoongi frown and walk away slowly.
[Later the day before yesterday]
There is absolutely no one in the office. Well there is, but Jungkook and Jimin don't count since they're making out in the corner of the room and Yoongi is sorting through papers and looking at his laptop every few minutes while rapping quietly.
Hoseok gets a great idea to get his attention and clicks on a new tab on his computer. He searches Sleeping At Last on the search bar and plays the first song that pops out which is Sun.
Nothing happens so Hoseok turns up the music a little bit louder, but instead of going through the purpose it encourages Jungkook and Jimin to moan louder. Yoongi looks up unamused and yells, "Take it to a room!" Before going back to what he had been doing.
Hoseok gives up and closes the window, picking his bags and leaving the office in defeat. He misses the glance Yoongi gives him.
[Present day]
"You see what I mean, I can do everything to get his attention and yet I'll end up looking like an idiot for doing it."
Jackson quirks up, "But, you already are."
Namjoon laughs loudly and Hoseok growls making the two men take a step back and raise their hands in self-defense. "I have no chances with him, so I'll just stop making myself look stupid," He gives Jackson a dirty look who hides behind Namjoon, "and forget all about Min Yoongi."
Namjoon is going to say what's in their minds, "Just ask him out."
People watch in annoyance or in amusement as two grown men run out of the cafe screaming for their lives. Well, Jackson runs, Namjoon ends up tripping. Nothing new there.
