Day one - Chemistry Fanboy

                                    

                                          
Edward POV
                          
"So class. Today we'll learn what Chemistry is and how we define it.", the teacher explained in front of us and wrote a few notes on the blackboard. I already survived 4 hours and I finally sat in my favourite subject. Again Winry was sitting next to me. In the breaks she showed me around and kind of took care of me. 
                          
"Can someone tell me the major branches of science?", Mr. Mustang asked. He had short black hair and small eyes. So small, I can't even say which colour they have. 
It got awfully quiet in the room and everybody stuck their head in between their shoulders, dodging straight eye contact with Mr. Mustang.
Pfff. C'mon? Are you kidding me? 
I gently rose my hand up in the air.
Mustang noticed me and said:"The boy with the awfully long ponytail."
I ignored his comment and started explaining.
                          
-"Mathematics and logic, biological science, physical science and social science. If a person is studying matter and how it interacts with other matter and energy, the person is studying chemistry. Chemistry in particular is just understanding matter, dismantle it and putting it back together. And oh, chemistry and physics shouldn't be mixed up. While chemistry is dealing with the structure, composition and behavior of matter, physics is the Studie of laws that dominate matter- ", I broke mid sentence. Everyone was looking at me.
                          
"Nerd.", I heard someone whisper.
                          
Damn it, did I do it again?
                          
-"Well Edward, how about you continue teaching if you are so pationate about it.", Mustang said with pour anger in his voice.
I felt how blood was rising up to my head.
                          
"N... No, Sir. I'm terribly sorry! Please continue your teaching!"
                          
I held my breath. Mustang wouldn't stop starring at me with this anger in his eyes. After what felt like eternity, he turned around and started to write something on the blackboard. 
                          
-"As much as I hate to admit it, the freak is right. There are four branches of science. Mathematics and logic, biological-, physical- and social science...", he continued to explain.
                          
I looked over to Winry, afraid she would be weirded out by my sudden outburst of chemistry fanboy knowledge. To my relief she just formed the words 'that was so cool!' with her lips and continued tacking notes on her scribbling block. 
                          
I sighed and continued to stare at my table for the rest of the lesson.

Two hours left. There's only PE left. I set foot on the football field. I came in last but that wasn't such a big of a deal. The teacher got there even later. Unfortunately girls and boys were separated so Winry wasn't around this time but she promised me to accompany me on my way home. Luckily her house lay on my way home, so we could accompany each other every day on the way to school and home. 
When finally the teacher came she told us to run miles for the rest of the lesson. 
I started running and followed the crowd of teens. I was somewhere in the middle, not fully using my actual potential. Even though I'm handicapped with two Auto-Mails I'm pretty fast. Yeah. I train a lot. So. No wonder, you know. My old Sensei always talked about keeping mind and body active and stuff soo... I follow this philosophy until this day.
So I ran along, deep in my thoughts, not minding anybody else, when suddenly Envy and Greed catched up with me. Envy to my left. Greed to my right. 
                          
"Can I help you somehow?" I asked annoyed.
                          
-"No. But maybe we can help you.", Envy replied.
                          
"I hardly believe that...", I stated and ran a little faster. I overtook everybody else and ran in front of the others. Even if they are Winrys friends, I don't like them... Yet. Maybe I get to know them better and start to like them one day but righy now I can't handle being around them.
                          
I got back to the school football field and since the lesson ended in five minutes anyway Miss Hawkeye was so kind and let me go a little earlier.
                          
"Oh you are already back? Oh well, whatever, take a shower and you can leave..."
                          
I thanked her and got to the changing rooms. I took of my red T-Shirt and black shorts, took a short shower and changed back into my black jeans and my black long sleeved shirt. 
I grabbed my bag and waited for Winry on the schoolyard.
My hair was wet and dripped, so my shirt got wet but it was a nice refreshment from the heat coming from the late summer sun.
I was starring at the horizon when out of nowhere someone put his arm around my neck. This someone turned out to be Winry.
                          
"Sup, freak? How was PE?"
                          
-"Not that bad actually." We started heading home. I didn't tell her about Envy and Greed.
                          
After walking in silence for most of the way, she broke it and said:"Well I gotta go that way now." She pointed to the street to our right.
                          
-"Oh... Okay. See you, tomorrow!"
I waved and while she made some distance between us. She turned around one more time and waved with a smile on her face.
                          
"Yeah, see you tomorrow, Chemistry Nerd!"
                          
Our path parted and we were going separate ways.

"Al! I'm home!" I smashed my backpack into the corner of our entry and went into the kitchen.
Food.
I need food. I'm so hungry.
I found myself some leftovers and heated them in the microwave.
Al stepped into the room and took a seat.
                          
-"How was your day, Ed?"
                          
I held on for a second or two. I thought about my day. Yeah. How was it? 
                          
"Interesting.", I simply said. "Yours?"
                          
-"Nice! The Job I got is pretty funny..." He started to talk about it and told me what he did today.
Since we have to invest into a house, groceries and other stuff one of us always has to have a job and Alphonse wanted me to go to school first, so we decided for me to finish school while he surches for a job and when I got my graduation, we'll exchange.
Simple, right?
