Chapter 9

                                    

                                          
"I cannot breathe... Shit..." I hear Eterna panic causing me to wake up.  I lift my wings for her.  "Forgive me... Eterna..."  I say weakly, having not eaten anything for a month straight and not practicing health since being placed in the cell, a month and a half ago.  The colour of my bone discoloured to a light brown, my soul glowing weakly and my bones covered in deep engraves, which will scar as well as my dirt embedded clothes, which is ripped and torn and stained with my blood. Eterna gets a good look at me for the first time.  "Encre... What have you done to yourself?"  She asks sitting up.  I let my wings go back into my back. A mouse runs over to me and crawls into my hand.  I pet it gently.  Eterna is watching me in awe.  "HUNT HIM DOWN!!!"  I hear.  "He is hunting us down."  I say softly.  "Encre... Please bite into me."  She says raising her hand towards my face.  I bite into her gently and she is rubbing my head gently as I do so.  The mouse scurries off.  I finish and lick the wound I inflicted to her.  "You look a lot healthier Encre..."  She says softly.  I set my head on her lap and she rubs my head soothingly.  "Thank... You..."  I say softly as she pets me. "Ma'am... We need to go..."  I say.  She picks me up and says "You are too weak to run, I shall carry you."  She runs extremely fast and I watch where she is going.  
                          
Hours later...
                          
She is beginning to slow down and it is beginning to rain again.  She sets me down and rests for awhile.  I smell the air and smell blackberries.  "Eterna... I shall be right back... I promise..."  I say. She nods tiredly.  I look for the berry bush and see others there.  I rip a part of my clothes into a square I turn into a bat and fly the cloth over to the bush.  I place a bunch of berries onto the cloth before tying it.  "Who is that?" I hear.  "Look at the scars."  I hear as I pick up the now bag of berries.  "We should follow them."  I hear.  I see Eterna walking slowly and looking around.  'She was looking for me.'  I think.  I go over to her and transform behind her.  "Eterna..."  I say softly.  She turns and sighs almost like one in relief.  I hold the sack of berries up to her.  Her eyes widen seeing me hold the little sack up to her.  She takes it and opens it. She smiles and sits down against a tree.  I sit in my abnormal way watching her before looking at the ground.  "Encre... Come here." She says gently.  I crawl over to her slowly my head low.  She brings my head down onto her lap and strokes my head gently.  My soul is glowing brightly in return to the kindness. "Encre does that feel nice?" She asks me.  I nod slowly.  She then says "Open your mouth." I open it shyly for her.  She places a berry in my mouth.  The juices fill my mouth and I savour the sweet taste for quite a few moments.  I finish and she places another in my mouth.  I again savour the sweet taste.  I finish that berry and she smiles then the smile slips from her face as she runs the tips of her fingers along the scars on my head and face.  "Why did you do this to yourself?"  She asks me.  "No one... Cares... So... Why should I live?"  I say weakly.  "Encre... I have always cared... Why do you think I would take you out on walks when you were younger?" She asks.  I try to remember the walks but cannot.  "Though you were crying the whole time... Due to the silver..." She says softly. She holds me closer to her and strokes my spine gently. "That is the king's mate... Why is he with a Mortal?"  I hear.  I sit up and get defensive over Eterna.  "We have to go..."  I warn looking for Lord Fallacy and his servants.  I see Suave and his eyes widen seeing me.  "Eterna... Please..."  I say with tears in my eyes.  "Lord Encre..."  Suave says.  Eterna has a stake out and gets in front of me.  I go into her hold and she is gently stroking my head to comfort me.  I turn into a bat and I am in her hand now.  She is stroking my spine as I curl my injured wing into her hand.  "Let go of Lord Encre you witch!!!"  Suave shouts.  "You are the ones who tortured him!!!  You mentally tortured him!!!"  Eterna shouts back.  Suave's eyes widen hearing that.  "The question... Why... Encre... I understand now..." Suave says laughing slightly. "Why show you love, care and compassion, then rip it from you making you feel embarrassed, hurt, frustrated and sad..."  He adds to it. Eterna takes off with me as a bat going even faster than she was prior.  
                          
Time skip...
                          
"Dr. Lofty... Is that the only way we can repair his wing?"  I hear Eterna ask as I wake up.  I sit up and then notice I feel safe and warm.  I see Eterna smiling at me.  I turn into a bat and jump over to her using my wings to help slightly.  "He jumped... Does he know he cannot fly?"  I hear.  I latch onto Eterna's vest and cuddle into her.  "He is very different off chains..."  I hear.  "He is very sweet and kind hearted... But he is also angry and frustrated towards Mortals and Vampires... I am worried he will go completely rogue his mother was half rogue..."  Eterna says.  I look up at her confused.  "Encre... You were born a quarter rogue... Only reason why you were locked up... They were going to kill you, reason why I did what I did."  Eterna says.  I start to cry knowing an answer, I had been longing to hear.  I hug her tightly.  "Encre..."  I hear.  'Where are you???'  I hear in my mind.  "Eterna..."  I say.  "Encre... I cannot understand you..."  She says standing and setting me down on the bed I had been resting on.  I transform and say "They are trying to find me... Please... I want to stay with you..."  I am holding onto her sleeve.  "Encre, they will not even be able to smell you... I promise."  Eterna says softly.  "Dr. Lofty please help him bathe and use female products to counter the male hormones he produces."  Eterna orders the other person I now know as Dr. Lofty.  I then notice my lack of clothing and blush darkly. Dr. Lofty laughs seeing me flustered.  "Oh, Encre it is alright, I have seen many a naked people before.  At least your magic is not showing."  She laughs and that helps me relax.  I turn into a bat and she picks me up gently.  "Encre... We need to fix your wing before it heals fully."  She says worriedly.  "Encre... Dr. Lofty is right, you will not be able to fly if you do not let her re-break your wing." Eterna says gently.  I nod understandingly.  I lift my wing to her. "If he screams I can use it as cover."  Eterna says.  I am frightened knowing the feeling.  Except I was in my Mortal state when Lord Fallacy broke my wing and arm to keep me grounded.  I ate so it would not hurt anymore.  Then I stopped eating since Lord Fallacy had moved me to the cellar and chained me. I broke away from the chains that kept me to the bed.  I did not try to escape knowing it was all pointless.  My life was to live like an animal in a cage.  Suddenly I am in agony and I scream for this reason.  Tears pour from my eyes.  The pain is prolonged for only mere moments afterwards.  "There... You should not transform from this state till you eat."  Dr. Lofty says wiping away my tears, while rubbing my bat back.  Eterna sticks a hand out to me.  "Encre, eat."  Eterna says softly.  I nod weakly before sinking my fangs into a finger of hers.  I drink gently to avoid hurting her.  "There we go... That is it, Encre."  She says rubbing my spine. I start to fall asleep then I realize I am injecting venom into her.   I suck back hard before releasing my grasp.  "Encre!"  She shouts.  I start to cough out the venom but not in time.  "He saved you from his own venom."  Dr. Lofty says, seeing how I am thrashing about before slowly stopping moving.  "Encre... Did me causing you to relax cause this?"  She asks.  I whimper in response.  "It immobilized him Eterna, he will not be capable of moving for the next few moments."  Dr. Lofty says.  "Encre... Thank you..."  Eterna says gently.  'His screams came from the other side of the village, Lord Fallacy.' 'We are getting him back.'  I hear.  "Encre... You are aware I am rogue right?"  Eterna asks.  I sweat drop in response.  "Apparently not so."  Dr. Lofty says.   "Encre, I want you to scream into your mind for me to stop hurting you. I will continuously respond cruelly, but do not think I mean any of it alright?"  She says.  I nod in response before sitting up.  "Can you screech?"   Dr. Lofty asks.  "Yes."  I respond.  "Okay now I can understand you for some reason..."  Eterna says.  I nod.  "Let us get this started then." She says.
                          
I cut off in mid-sentence like told to by Dr. Lofty.  I whimper to calm down.  "Okay let us get you washed up so they loose your trace."  Dr. Lofty says.   Eterna picks up a regular bat that seems to be dead.  She cuts it up and then goes outside with it.
