“I’m the luckiest guy on earth.”
I look down at Harry, not realizing that he had been listening to me talking the whole time while I was staring out the window. I smile faintly.
“And I’m the luckiest girl on earth. Aren’t we a match?” I kiss his pale fingers and am alarmed at how cold they are.
“I love you, Jenny,” Harry whispers, closing his eyes. “I feel like I don’t tell you that enough.”
I laugh quietly. “You tell me that every day, Harry.”
His lips curl into a small smile and I watch his breathing gradually fall into a steady rhythm. I’m not sure if he has fallen asleep but the sound of his soft exhalations is enough to make me feel at ease again.
I think of how everything Harry does shows his love for me and my mind begins sifting through the memories. As they float to the surface of my subconscious, I don’t hesitate to start speaking.
To tell the truth, just talking aloud soothes me. Maybe it’s because telling these stories is like reliving those breathtaking moments. Or maybe because it reassures me that I won’t ever forget them. To me, making sure these memories stay alive means Harry will, too.
