"How is she?"
I was on my way into the kitchen when I heard Xavier speak up. I opened my mouth to say something but closed it when his voice spoke up again. Curious, I pressed my body against the wall, with my head leaning out the doorway.
Xavier had his phone in his hand, pacing around the room. His other hand held on a mug with his face facing me.
"I'll fly in tonight." He said. He hung up the phone and tossed it down at the table. He sat down and put the mug close to his lips. "I know you're there Victoria."
My face became red as I removed myself from the wall. I walked into the kitchen with my hair covering half of my face. I sat down opposite of him. "Are you going somewhere?"
He looked at me, twirling his mug softly. "Yes."
I fiddled with the hem of my shirt and nodded my head. "Will you be gone long?"
An amused smile overtook his face. He leaned forward, tilting his head to the side. "Are you going to miss me?"
I gave him a dry look. "Why would I?"
He chuckled and leaned back against his seat. "The planner is coming soon. Eat breakfast before you leave."
"Who is she?"
"Alessio's wife." Xavier got up and placed his empty mug in the sink. "I'm going to go get ready for work." He went towards the doorway but then turned back. He raised his eyebrows up at me. "Victoria," he said in a warning tone.
I rolled my eyes and got up. To satisfy him, I fixed myself a plate of pancakes and some fruits. I grabbed a cup out of the cabinets and poured milk into it.
Xavier leaned against the doorway, watching me the whole time. When I was done, he looked at my plate and nodded approvingly.
I rolled my eyes and sat back down on the table. Right as I did so, I felt fingers on my chin, forcing my head to the side. I looked into stormy gray eyes and gulped.
Xavier leaned closer to my face, his fingers holding my face in place. "Roll your eyes at me again and I'll make sure to give you the punishment you deserve."
His breath smelled like coffee but there was also a hint of mint towards it.
An urge came over me and I leaned forward. "I'll do whatever I please."
A dark glint cast over his eyes. He placed his arms on the sides of the chair, trapping me. He leaned down towards my neck.
I closed my eyes, the feeling of his breath tickling my bare skin made me feel things I shouldn't. I closed my legs together, hoping to ease some of the tension that was starting to form.
Xavier took notice of it and he chuckled.
I shivered at the sound, feeling my heart beating faster by the minute. "Xavier," I whispered.
"Soon, you'll be my wife," he whispered. "Then, you'll see everything I'm capable of."
He moved his face again, putting it directly in front of mine. His magnificent gray eyes stared into my dull brown ones with his lips millimeters away from touching mine.
I closed my eyes, waiting for the moment that his lips would touch mine. Just the thought of him and I together made my heart soar.
But then his presence disappeared.
I opened my eyes, expecting to see him still in front of me but he wasn't.
One second he was right in front of me and the next he was at the doorway.
