We got in the IceCream Express safe and sound. "You pick a table," Patrick said. "I'll buy our ice cream. And I will pick your ice cream."

I just smiled and nodded. It was easy to pick a table, there were only a few people staying there. No one could tell we were students from the nearby High School. Patrick was acting that ditching was just a normal thing to do while I was acting excited. It's my first time and my adrenaline is pumping so hard.

As I sat down, Patrick came with two cups of ice cream. It's my first time to eat this ice cream and when we are both relaxed, we ate. I tasted my first spoon of ice cream and I thought I'd almost die of sweetness. It was a chocolate ice cream and I smiled. "Great ice cream," I said.

Patrick grinned. "I know," he said. "I used to come here with my sister."

"You have a sister?" I asked. This is the perfect time to get to know him and talk to him about his life. "Tell me something about her."

"Well, she's not really my sister," Patrick explained. "She's my stepsister. My mother married her father when I was ten years old. She's three years older than me."

I nodded. "I hope you won't mind my asking but why would you want to break up with Joanne?" I asked.

"Can't you tell?" Patrick asked. I shrugged. "I don't love her anymore. She changed. She became a jealous girlfriend."

"Isn't it normal for a girlfriend to be jealous?" I asked. "I won't tell you where I heard this piece of information but I heard you date other girls at her back."

"Yes, I do," Patrick said. "That's because I don't love her."

"So why did you have her as your girlfriend if you don't love her?" I asked. "Was she different when you met her?"

"She was like that when I met her," Patrick said. "But..." Then he looked at me with his eyes pained and lonely. "I thought a beautiful girl would fulfill my needs. I'm lonely, Kate. So lonely."

I grabbed his hands and squeezed it. "You are never lonely, Patrick," I said. "You have your friends... Your family..."

Patrick snorted. "Friends?" he repeated. "They just go to me when they need something. Or because I'm popular. They're using me. As for my family, they don't care about me. My parents are so busy with their work. It's like their work is much more important their son!"

"How about your sister?" I asked slowly.

"She died," Patrick said and looked away. "Last two months ago. Car crash."

I nodded and then it struck me. I know Patrick's sister. Her guardian angel was a friend of mine. When his sister died, the guardian angel fainted and dissolved. I saw it happen. Another friend of mine said if your human dies, you dissolve into nothing. Meaning you don't have any use now. I gulped and looked at Patrick. He's so fragile. And if he dies, I'm going to dissolve into nothing.

"You're never alone because God is always with you," I said.

"God?" Patrick repeated and looked at me. "Yes, I believed on Him. But when my Father died, I thought I'm alone. That whoever is watching me from up above doesn't care about me. So I stopped believing. Until I met my stepsister, Alice. She's so kind and she cared for me. So I believed again. Then she died. I don't know what to believe anymore, Kate."

"God is always with you," I said firmly. "Trust me, I know what I'm saying."

"I don't know why, Kate, but I feel so drawn to you," Patrick said. "You're different, I can feel it. It's like you've known me your whole life. Not just this morning. Do I know you from somewhere?"

I hesistated. Should I tell him? No one would believe me. I'd be locked inside a rubber room, screaming my head off that I'm really a guardian angel. If I tell him it would be easier for him to change. He would believe God again and he would restore his faith.

And that's when I made my decision.

"You promise you wouldn't tell anyone if I tell you what I am?" I said. I need his word on it. I can't risk my life and Charisse's and Aeriel's. "Patrick, you need to promise. And whatever I say, it's true. You got to trust me."

"I do," Patrick whispered. "I trust you with my life, Kate. What are you?"

I sighed. "It's hard to explain what I am," I said. "But you should know I'm not a human. I'm not an ordinary human. I came here to Earth last two days ago to look for my human. Because he had sinned a lot. I carried his sins and I cannot carry them anymore for they are so many. And so I fell. Aeriel Young and Charisse Glenn disguised as humans helped me so I could recover my wing when I fell. They helped me to blend in so I could look for you."

"Me?" Patrick repeated. "Why me? And I don't get it. You still haven't told me what you are."

"You're my human, Patrick," I said, squeezing his hand again. "And I am your guardian angel."

I stopped so that all could sink in. Would he believe me? Would he slap my face? Would he call the police, or worse, military, to come and blow me off to pieces? Would he push me away and say to everyone I'm mad for believing I'm an angel? What would he do?

But he did something that surprised me.

He put his hands on my face and looked at my eyes. "I believe you," he whispered.

The song of this chapter is Better Than Revenge by: Taylor Swift. :)) Hey, I know that Kate is not planning any revenge. Just don't mind my random songs. xD HAHA.
