Mission: Find a new base of operations

----------------------------------------------------

Dakota slid the bay door open enough for the three of them to enter the large warehouse. It was still dark out, and they couldn't see past their own arm length.

"Let's see if the lights still work in this place," Dakota said, feeling the wall for the switch.

After several moments Ethan spoke: "Anytime you wanna stop trying to seduce the wall and turn on the lights, just let us know." Alex chuckled. instantly, he stood straighter and stopped laughing when he felt the heat of Dakota's gaze on him.

They heard a cry of triumph as Dakota found the switch and flipped the large lever. They all stared as each row of lights turned on in quick succession.

"Well, at least my 'seductive' stroking turned on the lights. Alex snickered.

"Who's side are you on?" Ethan asked.

Alex didn't reply and strode into the middle of the huge, empty warehouse. In the far right corner, a small set of rooms, probably offices, occupied the area.

"Well this will certainly work."

Mission: Train and relax

--------------------------------

The three sat around on couches. Ethan was sharpening his tomahawk, with his feet on a makeshift coffee table. It was made of cinder blocks and the cleanest sheet of wood they could find. The couches and one bed in one of the small rooms was given to them by Clark and Ella. They were the only useful items in their storage. The three sat in silence, the only sound being the ring of Ethan's whetstone on his tomahawk.

Even though a weak had passed, they three Assassins hadn't found any others. The rest of the remaining Assassins in San Fransisco had cleared out or been hunted down. The latter was very unsettling. Ethan, Alex and Dakota had each retrieved their respective go bags, each containing five thousand dollars in cash. Even with the combined fifteen thousand dollars in cash, the Assassins had agreed to conserve as much money as possible.

The Assassins had been reduced to dumpster diving to find anything they wanted that wasn't completely necessary. They had found a worn punching back which they covered in duct tape to reinforce it. They had bought duct tape, as it was completely necessary. to practice knife throwing, they made a few targets out of cinder blocks and wooden boards. They had invested in a laptop, though, to read the flashdrive.

However, the group was sorely lacking weapons. Of course they had the weapons Ethan had looted from the two Templar hitmen, and each had their go bag pistols, but that was pretty much it. Ethan had his mission armor and Dakota always carried hers with her, but Alex's was still at their old Headquarters. Clark and Ella had also donated most of their weapons, but kept a few for protection.

"Hey Dakota, how'd you know about this place anyway?" Ethan asked.

"It used to be an Operation New World training facility."

Ethan had guessed what it was when he first saw it. He just wanted to have her bring up Operation New World. His curiosity had been peeked when he first figured out Dakota's affiliation with the elite task force.

"Are there any others with Operation New World that could possibly help us?" Ethan inquired. Dakota's usually stern and serious personality became saddened and melancholy and angry.

"No. All the Operation New World Assassins are dead. Except for me." The last sentence she whispered almost inaudibly to herself. Dakota set down the piece of pizza she was going to eat back in the box and stood.

"Well, I'm gonna hit the hay. I'm on second watch right?" Ethan nodded in answer to her question. They Assassins had decided to set up a watch at night, just to be careful.

Alex eyed the last piece of pizza greedily. "You gonna eat that?"

Ethan raised an eyebrow and pointed at the slice still in his hand. "You haven't finished that one yet. And you've had four slices!"

Alex downed the slice he was holding quickly and asked again, "Er oo gna eh da?"

"I've suddenly lost my appetite."

Mission: Change watch and get some sleep

---------------------------------------------------------

Ethan checked his watch as he neared the large bay door. It was time to change shifts. He shivered in the chilly night air. Not for the first time he was thankful for the coat Ella had given him. Ethan slipped into the large warehouse, angling for the set of rooms in the corner. He took off his coat and threw it on the tattered mattress he used as a bed. There were only three rooms and one of them - thankfully - was a bathroom. Well, it had a toilet. Bathroom was a bit of a stretch.

Ethan, the gentleman that he was, opted to sleep outside the rooms and let Dakota and Alex have their privacy. He climbed the metal stairs to Dakota's room and knocked on the wooden door.

"Yep."

Ethan opened the door as Dakota pulled on her shirt. It was dark, but he could have sworn he saw several scars on her abdomen at least. Even in the dim light, he could tell that her hair wasn't tousled from sleep and her eyes had dark circles under them. She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the opposite wall.

"You okay?" Ethan asked, genuinely concerned.

Dakota snorted lightly. "Yeah, of course I am."

"You haven't slept."

Ethan strode over to the edge of the bed and sat down next to her. "Really, what's wrong?"

"Oh, just thinking about my team. They're all gone now." Dakota seemed distant, staring at the wall and playing with a necklace that Ethan noticed for the first time.

"Do you wanna talk about it or . . ." Ethan let the sentence hang.

"York and Jersey - stunk to high Heaven I swear he never showered - and Utah and York." She seemed to snap back to the moment and hastily shoved the necklace back into her shirt. "Sorry did you say something?"

Ethan stood. "I was just saying if you ever wanna talk, Dak, just-"

"Please don't call me that."

Ethan nodded and continued. "Just let me know."

Dakota smiled, not the sarcastic, infuriating smile she normally had, but a sincere one. "Thanks," she said simply. She began to stand but Ethan put a firm hand on her shoulder.

"Get some rest. I'll take this watch."
