"Dad?" I called out, "I'm home..." I trailed off before seeing a sticky note stuck to the kitchen counter as I placed my food on top of it.

Lucy,
I had to head out to the office for an emergency. I should be back by dinner.

I sighed, slightly happy that I would have the house to myself for a few hours, but kinda annoyed 'cuz I wanted to ask Jude about the Dreyers. My mom always told me curiosity killed the cat, and I was a kitten with big eyes. I couldn't help but want to know more about what I didn't know. Given that Jude was the chief of police, and almost everyone knew his daughter was coming to town, I put two and two together to assume he knew everything there was to know about everyone. It was a small town after all.

So, I decided to eat my lunch, and then chat with my mom. She was a huge worry wuss, and since I hadn't really talked to her yesterday, I knew it was eating her alive to not call me.

I sat down at the dinner table, stuffing down my salad and checking my social media. Jenny and Cana had already followed me on Instagram, though it didn't surprise me much. My username wasn't anything special, just lucy_heartfilia, and my profile pic was a recent picture of me standing in front of the Clovertown sun. I followed them back, and then I thought of something.

I typed in #fairytail in the search bar and was given a whole bunch of school spirited posts. Videos of recent pep rallies, Beta Club, Art Club, Book Club, Drama Club, pictures of Chorus, Band, and Orchestra, field trips to the movies, Science Fairs, you name it. There were a few posts of students who skipped class, and a few of some football and basketball games. In one video, I saw a tuft of pink racing across the basketball court.

It was Natsu. Of course he played basketball. The funny thing was he held some kind of a spotlight among the rest of the team. The other boys were either short, or tall and lanky. At the bottom of the bleachers, I could see little Levy jump for joy as he made a shot. Gajeel didn't have to get up for me to see him cheering, and Erza and Jellal sat simply clapping. No one sat near the group. It was like they had their own private section. I wondered what their deal was.

Suddenly, I got two more follow requests. I went into my notifications and saw two guys.

One was insanely tanned, with pitch black dark hair. He had hung eyes, and a serious look about him. His eyebrows were sharp, giving him a natural irritated look. His user name was Aka_ren. The other guy looked like a total creeper. He was much lighter than the first guy, but also tanned. His hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and his eyes had dotted lines tattooed under both of them. His page wasn't private, so I could see that most of his pictures had him with a red cup, beer, or some other kind of concoction in his hand. I recognized Cana in a few of his pictures as well, with heart-eyed captions and them kissing on each other. His username was Baka_Bacchus. He must have been Cana's boyfriend.

Baka... Idiot... Interesting...

My best guess was that the friends Jenny and Cana were meeting up with included these boys, and they told these dudes about me and shared my Instagram. It was a theory, but knowing Jenny, I didn't doubt it.

I followed the boys back and finished my food. Then I went upstairs while calling my mom, and packed my book bag for tomorrow. The sun started to set while I looked through my suitcase for something to wear.

Mom's questions were regular: how were things going, are you ready for school tomorrow, how is Jude, blah blah blah. Honestly, she didn't sound at all anxious to hear from me, and I was surprised. I wasn't offended by it at all, though. I was happy she was okay with me not being there. After a thousand I love you's, we hung up, and I continued with my preparations.
