Chapter 21

It was a beautiful sunny day as Ron and Hermione ran down to the lake, hand in hand, where they had spent so many wonderful days together in the past. Ron laid down a blanket on the grass and the two sat down on the blanket, feeling the hot sun and enjoying what they knew was going to be a wonderful day. Hermione started taking drinks and food out of her bag.

'How much can you fit in that bag?' Ron asked laughing at her.

'Quite a lot,' she laughed back.

'Hurry up,' Ron said 'I'm hungry.'

Hermione simply laughed. Ron waited impatiantly as Hermione finished taking everything out of her bag. She picked up a small bottle of champagne and two glasses, pouring out two drinks.

'What's this for?' Ron asked.

'To celebrate.' Hermione replied, handing Ron a glass.

'Celebrate what?' He took a sip.

'To celebrate all this being over. To celebrate Voldemort being gone. To celebrate us.'

A wide smile spread across Ron's face.

'To us,' Ron laughed as the glasses clinked together. '

The two of them drank and then laid down on the blanket again, relaxing. Hermione's head on Ron's chest staring up at the blue sky above.

After a while Hermione stood up taking off her sandals so that she was stood only in denim shorts and a floaty white top, a bikini on underneath. Ron followed her and the two stood next to each other hand in hand by the edge of the lake.

'Love you,' Ron smiled kissing the top of her head.

'Love you too,' Hermione replied laughing. 'Ready?'

'One. Two. Three'

The pair jumped into the cold water below. Laughing and smiling at how perfect this day was, without a care in the world. Feeling like they used too before Hogwarts, but happier now that all of that trouble was over and at last they were together.

-

'Where have you two been?' Mrs Weasley asked as they walked into her kitchen dripping wet.

'Someone's been having fun.' George laughed at his brother, who gave him a dirty look.

'Shut up George!' Ron scowled although he couldn't stay angry for long as Hermione stood next to him simply laughing at the twin's remark.

'Go, get dry.' Mrs Weasley told them 'Dinner's almost ready.'

'Come on,' Hermione said to Ron taking his hand.

Hermione and Ron ran up the stairs, feeling as if they were first years back at Hogwarts. They laughed lying on Ron's bed in each other's arms.

'I wish everyday could be like this,' Hermione sighed.

'What do you mean?' Ron asked.

'Just us, messing around, having fun.' Hermione replied.

'Maybe it can. Obviously not exactly like this, but we can always be together everyday.'

'Yeah that would be perfect.' Hermione smiled dreamin of a world where the two of them would be together all the time. Maybe live together. Maybe even one day get married. It was no good dreaming though, Hermione would just have to hope that one day it would come true.

Hermione stood up, waving her wand to quickly dry herself off. She brushed her hair, which had gone extremely frizzy, and touched up her makeup. She was about to go back downstairs when Ron wrapped his, still very wet, arms around her.

'Ron,' she squealed laughing, and kissed him. It always felt magical whenever she kissed Ron, it just felt right, and she never wanted it to end. Ron felt the same, he knew Hermione was the one but just didn't know how he could tell her.

'Get a room,' They heard Ginny's voice and pulled apart. 'Mum says dinner's ready.'

'Get out Ginny,' Ron shouted at her. Hermione and Ginny just laughed.

'Calm down Ron she's just joking,' Hermione laughed, kissing him again.

'Whatever,' Ron said although trying not to laugh. 'I'm going down to dinner.'

Hermione and Ginny just stared at him, watching him walk out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Then they turned to face each other and just burst out laughing once more.

'What's his problem?' Ginny asked, but Hermione simply shrugged.

Hermione followed Ginny downstairs, she was so happy being with Ron and loved the days that they would spend together, but sometimes she just needed another girl to talk to. Someone who she could talk to about anything, tell secrets too. She had never really had a friend like Ginny, spending most of her time at Hogwarts being friends with two boys, she'd never had a really close friend she could tell things too and Hermione was glad that that had changed.

'So how's everything going with Ron?' Ginny asked her teasingly.

'Wonderful,' Hermione smiled her eyes lighting up as she talked about him.

'You two are perfect together,' Ginny carried on, 'Although Ron's a bit moody and annoying, but hey he's my brother.' She laughed.

'How's it going with Harry?' Hermione asked her best friend.

'Wonderful.' This time it was Ginny's eyes that lit up.

'I'm glad,' Hermione replied.

The two girls giggled and ran down the rest of the stairs to the Weasley's dining room.

Hermione sat on Ron's bed, alone, writing a letter to her parents. Wanting to reassure them that everything was ok and that she would visit them very soon. She missed not seeing her parents but being in the wizarding world, with other wizards was just so much better.

Hermione folded up the letter and walked to Ron's owl which sat impatiently in it's cage. Hermione undid the latch and handed him the letter.

'Mr and Mrs Granger,' She told it and seconds later the owl was out of the window, soaring out into the black night sky.

Hermione opened up her bag taking out a vest top and some shorts, tying her hair up and quickly getting changed. She lay down on the bed. Seconds later Ron walked in, wearing his plaid pyjama bottoms and maroon jumper (knitted by his Mrs Weasley).

'Night,' he said kissing Hermione, putting his arm around her and holding her close to him.

'Night,' she replied snuggling up next to him. He was warm and soft, and smelled really good too. She closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep, knowing that this was going to be a perfect summer.
