"You like your new school?" Marcus questioned our son who occupied his lap. Cameron smiled shyly as he played with the sleeve of his father's prison uniform and nodded his head. Marcus kissed his forehead and leaned down as Cameron said something in a whispered tone.

"I know man, I fucked up and got taken away from you. Sorry you gotta deal with that scrub ass nigga your mama is with. I'll be home soon though" Marcus said as he looked up at me. I narrowed my eyes at him as his tattoo covered arms wrapped around our five year old son protectively.

"You know I don't like that type of language around him. Don't start, this has nothing to do with Alonzo and you don't need to be putting that in his head" I scolded folding one of my legs over the other.

"Lil man, go with your grandma and let us talk" Marcus whispered to Cameron. His mother, Tamara stood up and took Cameron's hand and they went over to the vending machines. Marcus leaned forward on the table and crossed his hands.

I admired my baby daddy who was my first love. He still looked as fine as ever with his long neat dreadlocks and dark brown skin, there was a time where I risked it all for him. I was young, stupid and in love and after serving six months in a county jail while I was pregnant with our son, I got out only for him to have moved on with a bitch I considered one of my best friends and he thought I was suppose to remain loyal and hold it down for him.

"The streets been talking. Ol boy is trying to take on my territory like he can pull that shit off, you know better than anybody how rough these streets is" Marcus said cockily. Every time he smiled like a know it all I wanted to slap the shit out of him.

"Funny you should mention that. Alonzo said some men ran up on him a few nights ago, and I know you and I know your boys. Did you arrange that?" I questioned looking directly into his eyes.

"If I sent real shooters after him best believe ol boy would be dead. Now I'm a say this shit once, you wanna fuck with him that's coo' but don't fuck him under the same roof as my son. He gon' get caught up eventually, this street shit ain't for everyone" Marcus said as he sat back.

"You think I'd ever put Cam in harms way? Alonzo and I don't even stay together, worry about getting up out of here. I know how much you love pussy so I'm sure you're miserable" I laughed looking him over.

"That's not a problem for me, I get pussy whenever I want. Glad you're worried about me, don't worry though, daddy will be home soon" Marcus said rubbing his lower lip as he winked at a young beautiful corrections officer who walked passed us.

"I have a father and you sure as hell aren't him. How soon is soon anyway?" I asked and Marcus moved his hand back on the table before grabbing a hold of my hand.

"Soon like a few weeks soon. I want us to be a family, all the other hoes I was with don't amount to you. We both older and a little wiser, let's make this work for Cam. I know you still love me and as much as you try to force yourself to love Alonzo, he could never be me. I set the blueprint for all your relationships" Marcus stated as if it was a fact.

"You'll never be ready to settle down, that's not who you are. You took me through hell and back and made me feel worthless. Us co parenting is what's best for Cameron, as much as I do love you, I love you enough to know that you don't mean this. Alonzo treats me like a queen and he doesn't cheat" I said pulling my hand from his grasp.
