"So where are we going?"
"Mobile if we can. That's plan A but if we are being chased then we have to go to the woods." I whisper as if someone is going to hear me. "Well let's go then. Don't worry about Mo she is a sweet heart. And she won't run away." I say as I sling my leg over my bike. I started pedaling down the road. We pedaled on for about eight hours. I turn my head around to face them "Are ya'll sure you don't want to take a break?" Alex raises his head "Positive."
"Okay. Tell me when yall want to stop." I say looking down at Mo. She is a bit chubby but within a few days she will be fit. We ride on for four more hours, that's when I hear the sirens. "Get into the trees!" I yell. We make a sharp turn into a thin treeline. I threw my bike behind me and dived behind a few bushes along with Alex and Kayla. Mo followed and laid next to me. My hands shaking I grab Kayla's hand and squeezed my eyes shut. I heard the sirens pass, as I let out a long sigh of relief. I roll onto my back. Alex did the same laughing, and I laughed along with him. "That was so close!" He yells. "Hell yeah!" Kayla and I just laugh. "Let's stay here for the night." I say between laughs. "As long as I get first dibs on rolling in the dirt." Alex says. Kayla responds with "I'm pretty sure that you don't have to call dibs on that" I laugh as my agreement.
As the sun goes down I begin making a leaf pile. "What's that for?" Kayla asks. I stop and look at her. "Well you want a warm bed don't you?" I say
"Naw I prefer to sleep on the rocks. It brings out my inner caveman." Alex says sarcastically. We all giggle at him as he starts flopping in the dirt. Mo walks around me and curls up in my lap like a puppy. I pet her head playing with her mohawk. "Why did you give her a mohawk?" Kayla asks. I giggle "She was born with it. Durr. I'm not that crazy." Alex sits down next to me "Are you sure? You seem pretty crazy to me."
I sigh as I lay down in the leafs. "I guess I'am"
Alex lays down next "Yep" Kayla then lays down on the other side of me. "Do you really think we can make it?" I put my hands behind my head "Of course we're going to make it. I mean yeah we have to find food but we have me and Mo for that. And water shouldn't be a problem, It's Alabama for heaven sake there is bound to be water about anywhere we go. Don't worry we'll be fine." Kayla rolls over to face me. "I trust you, You have the most experience in the woods that any of us."
"Thanks." Alex says. Kayla raises her head "I'm not talking to you." I laugh as Alex sighs and rolls over and says "We need to get some sleep. Wait where is Mo?"
I sit up and yell "Mo Mo baby girl come here!" Almost instantly she jumps out of the bushes and climbs into my lap. I chuckle at her, and lay down. Mo scoots up where her head is laying between my neck and shoulder. I felt sleep welcomes me.
