"I can hear him! I can fucking hear him!" I scream at Marcus before bringing my knee up quickly in between his legs to buy me some time. Marcus doubles over, letting go of my arm as he does. I look to the side and notice he left th door open, I take the opportunity to bolt as fast as I can through the doorway, hoping that Marcus doesn't catch up to me.

I frantically look around, my eyes skipping around the many doors that line the dimly lit hallway. My feet take off in roughly the direction I heard Tobias's voice.

I know Marcus said he wasn't here, but I know different. He's locked him up somewhere around here, I know Marcus, he lies. A lot at that.

"Tobias!" I shout, my voice echos down the hallway, bouncing off every available surface. I stop abruptly in my tracks, waiting for an answer, maybe just the tiniest voice that will tell me where he is. I hope he's okay, I know how he gets around Marcus, even though he overcame his fear, what happened back at the Bearu could quickly elicit he same fear, especially through the same acts that made him scared of it.

There's no reply, the hallway stays quiet, too quiet.

Why isn't Tobias answering me? He answered me earlier, this makes no sense. Could I really have been hearing things?

"Tobias!" I scream, my throat feels raw, that's odd. I haven't been screaming all that much. the thought slips my mind as I am unkindly greeted with my face colliding with a door. I mentally curse at the door, my nose is throbbing, a steady stream of blood running down my face.

Great, just what I wanted to deal with at a time like this.

"Hello?" Comes a small voice from inside the door.

"Evelyn?" I ask, clutching my nose, the blood quickly covers my fingers.

Damn, I must have ran into the door pretty hard for it to bleed this much. The door almost silently swings on hinges, revealing a scrawny version of Evelyn, her ribs stick out at sharp angles, it almost looks like they could rip the fabric of her shirt if she bent over too far.

"Are you okay?" She asks, why is she all of a sudden being nice to me?  "What happened to your nose?" I laugh, though I know I shouldn't, I try to supress it, but a small giggle escapes my lips. She'll think I'm an idiot after I tell her what actually happened.

"I ran into a door." I explain trying to keep a straight face, but I crack a smile, how can I not? Evelyn's shoulders shake lightly with suppressed laughter.

"You make me laugh," she laughs, her smile broadening.

"No I'm serious," I start, trying to not burst into a fit of laughter again, "I ran into your door while I was looking for Tobias." Her smile fades at her son's name, is there something she isn't telling me? She grabs my hand and leads me into her room, sitting down on the bed, which I soon after do.

"Tris, honey," Evelyn coos, this can't be good, I've come to learn whenever someone starts with my name and then 'honey' the part soon to come can't bring good news.

"What?" I snap a little too harshly. I stand up from the bed, causing a loud creaking noise to run through the room, Evelyn quickly shushes me, is there someone coming? "Get underneath the bed." Evelyn commands me, I do as told, if someone really is coming we can't take any chances.
