Chapter 4: Pool Practice with “Lyns” and the “Lazy, Unsupportive Witch”.

After our 25 minute drive to school, Payton found a parking spot in the Senior Lot. We were in her blue Toyota Matrix singing along to Miley Cyrus’s Wrecking Ball, when a beautiful, slick black, Ford Mustang pulled up to the spot in front of us.

“Oh. My. Car.” was all I could think in my head as I stopped singing and just stared at this heavenly car. Whose could it be? Oh my god. Seriously? Whose? And that’s when he got out of his car.

“Oh my goodness, Lyns?” Payton said shutting off the radio, still staring at the car and the owner.

"Yup.” was all I could manage to choke out as I looked at the owner. I looked at the clock 7:45. Oh wow, five minutes until the beginning bell. I looked back at the owner of the car and reached for my handle, which I of course couldn’t find and am looking like a complete idiot trying to open my door. Lucky for me that brown hair, blue eyed beauty was looking the other way. When I finally found the handle and got out I took one last gaze at the car, him, and then walked away.

When I got inside of the school the bell went off. This would be my prison until 2:38. Okay. Let’s go. I headed for my locker when I realized I didn’t even say goodbye to Pay. Opps. Well she usually understands that I’m in my own little world whenever he’s around. 8-44-14. I get into my locker and grab my books for my first and second class. When I finally got to my first period class, I looked over at his desk. He always gets to class pretty early. Usually he’s there before me and so are one or two other people, that I don’t know all that well. I took a deep breath and walked in. He turned around, hearing someone’s footsteps (those being mine) and smiled.

“Good Morning Lynsey.” he said, which kind of made me blush a little.

“Good Morning Ryan.” I said in return, “Is it Friday yet?”

He laughed a little, well more like chuckled at my completely stupid joke. “No, sadly.”

I set my books down on my desk, which was diagonal to his. He was looking at me with those piercing blue eyes and I looked back giving him a fake little pout. Again, he laughed. Again, at something really stupid. I walked towards his desk to sit behind him (my friends all sit over there in the mornings (they come in later though)) and on my way I stumbled over the leg of a desk, nearly falling, and he looked back. “You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah. Yeah. Thanks. I’m just really clumsy.” I said as I limped over to the seat really embarrassed.

 “You sure?”

“Mhmmm.” That was all I could get out. He was still looking at me and I think I was staring back. I mean if i wasn’t, how would I know he was looking at me. Alright Lynsey stop being weird. “Okay so…”

“Hi Lynsey! Hey Ryan!” I heard Paris yell. Oh not this again. Every once in a while Kimmy, Jen, and Paris get in this war of who can say hi first and “Hi Ryan! Hi Lyns…”

“To late Kimmy! I already got them!” Paris snarkily interrupted her. Yes. These are my friends. I look up at Ryan. He looks me in the eyes and we stare at each other for like 3 seconds and then, at the same time, we laughed; next he turned around to face the front of the room again. Dammit. Well that happened every morning. Not always the “Hi” War, but whenever they come in he usually just turns around, except occasionally. That’s rare though. I turned to my girls and then Alex came in and sat with us. After a while Mr. Zanardi told us to go to our seats and then the announcements came on.
