"What do we do first?" He asked after Damion had finished eating. Gemma opened her laptop and typed a few things. Madix leaned over her shoulder and snorted, illuminated by the glow of the screen.
"Experiment One?" He asked doubtfully. "That doesn't sound suspicious at all."
"What should it be called then?"
It only took a second for his face to light up, which is how I knew he already had something planned. I groaned as he took the keyboard and typed something out. He gave it back to Gemma with a proud grin.
"RUSH?" She raised an eyebrow.
"You know, an acronym." He defended. "Really Useless Superheroes. It can be our code name."
Damion made a face. "You do know that superhero is one wo-"
I cut him off with an elbow to the rib. Madix was practically beaming, let alone paying any attention. I leaned to Damion. "Let him have this. It'll make our lives easier."
"RUSH it is," he sighed.

"Do it again," Gemma commanded loudly.
I panted and wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans. Pulling in the electricity was easy but giving it a physical form was much harder. I had been shooting weak bolts towards a sheet of metal for the last hour at least.
"Evan?"
"Give me a second, my everything hurts."
"It's like a muscle," she assured me from her safe place across the lot. "The more you stretch it, the easier it'll become."
I focused the buzz in my fingers and thrust my arm forward. This one bounced off the sheet and fizzled out when it hit the ground. It left my shoulder aching; even my fingers had been numbed.
"I'm done for the night," I announced as I flopped to the cold dirt. "The muscles have given up."
Gemma typed something else on her computer before clearing her throat. "Alright Damion. You're up."
"Do I have to?" He asked uncertainly. "I don't even know how I did it the last time."
"Just use one of these two," Gemma sounded distracted. "If you can't do it, we can try again another time. You'll figure it out eventually."
Damion sighed heavily. "Madix, come help me."
"If you think you can just ask me nicely and I'll bend to your every request, you're absolutely right."
I moved to sit beside Gemma. Damion and Madix moved to stand beside the sheet metal.
"Do you think he'll be able to do it?" I asked her quietly.
"Maybe if Madix talks enough he'll make him shut up."
"Weirder miracles have happened."
It took two more hours, a lot of giving up, and even more bickering between the two before Madix finally froze. I kicked Gemma awake. Damion looked uneasy.
"Tell him to sit down," Gemma called. "Out loud, and if that doesn't work, just do it in your head.
"Sit down," Damion ordered.
Madix dropped like a fly. Damion jumped to catch him before he could hit his head. "Sorry!" He exclaimed
Just like that, Madix was back to normal. He rubbed his head. "If you wanted to hold me, you could have just asked."
