Cuddles and straddling

                                    

                                          
A lady came over the PA system
                          
"It is now 8 pm, all visitors should say goodnight, to allow our patients get some rest" and then the bitch repeated it in Spanish. Rob stood up and kissed my cheek.
                          
"I gotta go love but ill be back in the morning he whispered."
                          
"Ok, say goodnight to the kids for me"
                          
"I will," he said as he went into my purse and grabbed his keys and wallet. He left and I sat there rocking Hadley. She abruptly awoken, and started crying and whimpering
                          
"What's the matter, baby? Shh, your alright love." I could tell she was in pain, she was arching her back and tried putting her hands by her eyes even though I wouldn't let her, I called the nurse.
                          
She came in and saw me trying to console Hadley.
                          
"She's due for pain meds, I'll be right back," the nurse said
                          
I sat there with one of my little girls in my arms, watching as she cried and struggled to get comfortable. The nurse came back in and inserted a syringe into the IV,
                          
"This should start working in a few minutes"
                          
"What is it," I asked
                          
"Morphine"
                          
"Good," Hadley started to calm down after a few minutes, she continued to whimper but wasn't full out crying like she was. I rubbed her back and softly sang "I loved her first" to her until she was asleep. I decided I was going to try and get a couple hours before she needed me again. I slowly got up being aware of the cords and laid her in the crib.
                          
"Goodnight baby," I whispered to her as I kissed her forehead. I went and grabbed the remote as I climbed onto the couch. I sent to Rob a good night text and closed my eyes, letting sleep take over me.
                          
2 hours later
                          
I awoke when I heard Hadley start to cry. I sleepily opened my eyes taking in my surroundings. There was a nurse standing over Hadley, she looked over at me when she heard me start to sit up
                          
"Hey sorry, I was doing vitals and was changing her diaper."
                          
"It's ok," I said as I got off the bed and went over to Hadley's side. "Hey,  its ok, your alright darling."
                          
She slowly calmed down to my voice. I ran my fingers through her hair.
                          
"I'll be back at 5 am to do this again," she said
                          
"Ok," she left and I stood there softly singing From the ground up by Dan and Shay until she had fallen asleep clutching my finger in her hand. I gently got out of her grasp and went to the bathroom and changed into a nightgown I had grabbed out of my purse and went back to the couch, curling up as I fell asleep.
                          
I was awoken again by Hadley cries. The sun was starting to come out, I glanced at the clock as I got out of bed, it was 5:30 am. Hadley's cries got more frantic as I went to her side, I laid my hand on her chest.
                          
"Hey, whats wrong Hadley? It's ok mommas right here." She whimpered. I checked her cords and gently picked her up cradling her against my chest. "It's alright love"...I whispered to her. She curled up more against me. I called the nurse and she brought a bottle in, handing it to me. I sat there feeding her, watching as she gulped the bottle down. Normally at this stage, she should be starting baby food but because of everything she has been through and her being developmentally between 2-4 months, the doctor decided that it was not safe for her and suggested I wait a couple more months with her. Hadley finished her breakfast and I got her to burp. I slowly stood up and moved her IV pole to the other side of her crib and laid long ways on the couch with my baby girl against my chest. I pulled the blanket over the both of us and turned the tv on. I picked my phone up that was on the back of the couch and sent a good morning text to rob, I was not expecting him to be awake but shockingly he was
