Chapter 7: Direction
James' visit seemed to go by in a flash and he was back off to L.A. He hasn't been in contact much either besides for the occasional text. Sarah's fandom name for the Big Time Rush fandom had been a success and now the term Rushers was being used everywhere. BTR had released their second album Elevate which was Epic! See what I did there? I'm such a Rusher now as well. It was now mid December and Sarah and I were working today at the music shop, organizing CDs in the back room of course. I pull out CD after CD then reality came and hit me straight in the face. As I hold onto the CDs that were created by people who are very inspirational and do something with their lives, I sit here with my life smeared all over the place. I was expected to go to university or college due to my great grades but I felt like I didn't have a calling with any of the options that I was given. "Libby? You ok? You've been holding that same CD for a while now..." Sarah waves her hand in front of my face. I blink and turn to her.
"Talk bout it tonight." I say. She nods. She was staying at my place, you're never too old for sleepovers. The shop closed at 6pm and Sarah drove us to my place. I know that she would be about to burst with questions when we walked though the doors of my place. I drag her up to my room and close the door. "I have no idea what I'm doing with my life Sarah. I don't know what to do with it and I feel like I have nothing going for me." I fall back on my bed and let out a sigh of frustration. Sarah comes over and sits next to me.
"Well lets find some direction for the both of us because honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing with my life either." We laugh at ourselves. She lays next to me and we both stare at the roof. "Why did you choose the music shop as a place to work?" Sarah randomly asks.
"Because I love music and I feel like I'm in a place where people accept me. And by that I mean our coworkers. How bout you?"
"Same reason. But have you ever had a deep think about why you were attracted to music in general?" I look at her weirdly.
"I don't know, because I can relate and music has sorta been my second friend growing up."
"Hello, I believe we have found some direction."
"What?"
"Music." She whispers. I sit up.
"And how is music a direction?" I ask grabbing my bottle of water that was in my bag. Sarah jumps up and smiles brightly.
"This is going to be perfect! You and I are starting a band!" I choke on my water.
"A band?!" She nods. "I'm not good enough to be in a band! I'm to innocent, have you seen this face?!"
"Firstly: I think we all know that you are way more than good to be in a band. Secondly: I'm innocent to and as we saw with the Sean breakup ages ago, we can both be feisty."
"I don't know..." I try to think of another excuse, I would love to be in a band but I don't know how it would work out.
"Awww please? We can save up money to move to L.A. and you can play the drums and I'll play guitar and we can both do vocals. We can also try to get signed my a music label."
"Well... oh fine! You've convinced me." I give in. Sarah comes over and wraps her arms around.
"Yay! This is going to be so much fun!"
"Starting from now we're working twice as hard to earn money." I say sternly.
"We can do it. We can get an apartment together and split the rent." For the rest of the night we plan everything for getting to L.A. I guess we will be visiting James.
