Beca and Chloe's lives after college were great. They got married and Beca had a beautiful baby girl. Gia was five years old when Chloe was home, baking cookies for her and Beca. Beca was at work, but should've been home by then. She was about to call her when her phone rang. She didn't recognize the number.
"Hello?" Chloe answered.
"Is this Chloe Mitchell-Beale?" The woman on the other line asked.
"Yes?"
"We have some bad news regarding your wife, Beca."
"What is it? Who is this?" Chloe asked frantically. She sat down on the couch.
"Beca got in a car accident. She's unconscious as of right now." The woman said. Chloe felt a tear run down her cheek.
"No. Please tell me she's okay." Chloe said. "Please."
"I'm afraid she's not doing so well. She is very small and lost a lot of blood." The woman said. "She might not have much time."
"I'll be right there." Chloe said and hung up. She cried. She couldn't stop crying and didn't notice when a short brunette came down the stairs.
"Mommy? What's wrong?" Gia asked.
"Nothing, Baby Girl." Chloe said and wiped her tears.
"Why are you crying?"
"We're going to go visit Momma, okay?" Chloe said, her voice cracking.
"Why are you sad, Mommy?"
"Momma got some boo boos." Chloe said. "I'm just sad that she is in pain."
"Oh no!" Gia said. "I'll make her all better."
"I'm sure you will. Let's get you packed up. I'm going to see if you can stay with Auntie Aubrey while I stay with Momma." Chloe said. She packed bags for her and Gia, then left the house. Gia fell asleep whenever they were driving so once the girl was asleep, Chloe called Aubrey.
"Sup, Chlo." Aubrey said.
"I need you to take Gia for a little bit." Chloe said.
"Nice to talk to you, too. Why?"
"Beca got in an accident." Chloe said quietly. Aubrey was silent. "She might not make it, Bree." Chloe cried.
"I'll meet you at the hospital." Aubrey said and hung up.
Chloe parked and carried her sleeping daughter inside.
"We're here to see Beca Mitchell-Beale." Chloe said.
"Family only." The nurse said.
"I'm her wife." Chloe replied. "And this is her daughter."
"Room four." The nurse replied with a glare.
Chloe ignored the nurse and walked to the room. She was happy Gia was asleep, since she didn't know how bad Beca was. She entered the room slowly and saw Beca's small body lying limply in the hospital bed. She gently placed Gia on the chair and knelt down next to Beca's head.
"Becs, you have to wake up, okay?" Chloe whispered. "Please, Becs."
Chloe looked closely at Beca's face. It was covered in scratches and bruises, but Beca's eyeliner was still in tact.
Chloe let herself cry. She cried and cried until Aubrey walked in.
"Chloe." Aubrey whispered. "It's going to be okay."
"No it's not, Bree! Look at my wife!" Chloe yelled, waking Gia.
"Mommy?" Gia said. Chloe didn't reply but kept crying.
"Alright Gia, I'm going to take you to my house, while Mommy stays here." Aubrey said, blocking Beca's body and scooping her up. The child would be scarred for life if she saw her mother like this.
"I want to say bye to Mommy and Momma." Gia protested. Chloe was crying hysterically. "Why is Mommy sad?"
"Chloe, could you pull yourself together for like, twenty seconds to talk to your daughter?" Aubrey said, not nicely.
"No, Bree!" Chloe cried. "Beca is going to die and I'm going to be alone!"
"Is Momma going to die, Auntie?" Gia asked.
"No, Sweetheart." Aubrey said. "Mommy is just really upset and has no idea what she's saying!"
"Leave!" Chloe yelled.
"Chloe." Aubrey said and walked towards Chloe.
"No!" Chloe cried. "Go! I want to be alone with Beca!"
Aubrey didn't care if Gia saw Beca anymore, she needed Chloe to pull herself together. Aubrey put Gia down and hugged Chloe. Chloe began to relax as the child roamed around the hospital room.
"You're okay." Aubrey whispered repeatedly. "You need to relax, if not for yourself, for Gia."
"Momma?" Gia said, but she couldn't see her mother's face since the bed was high and she was extremely small.
"Momma is sleeping." Chloe said after she relaxed.
"I can't see her." Gia whined.
Chloe looked to Aubrey.
"Let's let Momma sleep." Aubrey said. "She's had a long day."
Aubrey and Gia left, leaving Chloe alone with her wife.
"Beca, I love you so much." Chloe said. "Gia loves you, too."
Silence. Then the door opened.
"Hello, you must be Chloe." the doctor said and Chloe nodded. "Well I'm just going to check on Beca's wounds to see how they're holding up." Chloe nodded again.
The doctor carefully untucked Beca from the bed and examined the cuts across her stomach. Chloe remembered when that same stomach was large and had their child in it. Now it was small and full of cuts.
"They don't look infected which is good. How long do you want to keep her alive?" He asked.
"What?" Chloe asked.
"How long? She's not going to wake up, so how long do you want her to remain on life support." He asked.
"Are you sure?"
"Patients hardly ever make it through an injury this serious."
"Now." Chloe said. "If she has no chance, do it now. I don't want her to suffer."
"Okay." He said. "Say goodbye, I'll be back in a few minutes."
As soon as he left, Chloe decided to lay down next to Beca on her bed.
"Becs, this is your last chance." Chloe whispered. "I need you to know that I'll be a mess without you. I love you so much."
The doctor came in and turned off the machine.
Beeeeeeeeep
Chloe cried. She felt like a part of her was taken away the second she heard that. She couldn't take the pain and went to leave, but heard the faintest noise she thought she would only hear in her dreams.
Beep beep beep.
"Beca?" Chloe asked.
The doctor didn't hear it and gave Chloe a funny look.
"She's alive!" Chloe squealed.
"You need some sleep, Miss Mitchell-Beale." The doctor said.
"Chlo." A weak voice said from the other side of the room. The doctor turned around to face the "dead" body, a horrified expression appeared on his face.
"Beca!" Chloe ran towards her wife, who's eyes were squinted open.
"Chloe." Beca said. "I love you so much."
"I love you, too, Becs." Chloe said. It was a miracle.
