“This way, please, gentlemen,” the estate agent indicated. Chris let Jonny walk first while he examined the outside of the property. It looked quite sober, but a bit stylish, could definitely be Jonny’s house, he concluded. His boyfriend had been adamant in buying a new house and moving in before they had to go on tour again. He had been in contact with some real estate agencies and after a couple of weeks of searching, he had selected a few houses he was interested in. Chris would always tease him asking him how his “Home Idol contest” was going, in reference to the reality show.
“How many houses are we seeing today, Jay?”
“Four, in total. The finalists,” he grinned as they made their way in.
“As you can see, there are a few details that have to be repaired, maybe some painting has to be done,” the man explained, “But everything works perfectly well, electricity, sewage, pipes, heating, most of that was made from scratch by the previous owner five years ago,” he continued.
The house was gorgeous, despite the obvious details that needed to be fixed, Chris thought while he stared open-mouthed at the cozy drawing room. He definitely imagined Jonny here; it had a sort of Jonny feel to it. He walked to the window and peered outside. It had a nice view of the neighbourhood and the front garden. He would love to have this view after spending some comfy time with his Jonny Boy, he thought, an impish smile on his face.
This house was much better than the semi-detached they had just seen. His boyfriend had quite liked it on the catalog, but upon visiting it, he did not seem much enthusiastic about it. That house was too posh for Jonny; it reminded him of the one he had purchased in West London, almost coerced by his father to invest his money. He had never lived in that house, though. It had always felt too big for just him and too far away from where the guys lived and from where Jonny’s flat was. So, a letting agent had found reliable tenants for it and Chris kept on living in his rented flat in Camden, only a few minutes away from Jonny.
Realising Jonny and the man had left for the kitchen, he hurried after them. When he got there, the man was telling Jonny of the things that had been changed and what still needed to be done and Jon was asking lots of questions. Too much for Chris, so he sort of shut the boring conversation off his mind and concentrated on the lovely details he could see around. This house definitely had potential. If Jonny cooked he would have loved this spacious kitchen, Will would surely love it. Maybe he could help Jonny organise a housewarming party and make Will cook? Nah, poor Mr.Champion. They would most probably end up buying food.
“Chris!” Jonny was laughing in front of him, taking him off his musings.
“Sorry!” he sheepishly said, realising the man had walked ahead once again.
“Come on, let’s see outside!” Jonny told him, tenderly rubbing a hand on his stomach.
“Yeah,” he said and adjusted the guitar case he carried on his shoulder. He walked side by side with Jon until they reached the glazed doors that led to the large back garden.
Chris instantly loved the way the trees seemed to frame the entire place. He looked at Jonny’s beaming face, his green eyes lit up at seeing the beauty of it. Jonny grinned at him, “It’s lovely!” he said.
“It really is Jay,” he responded, sharing the warm feeling his boyfriend felt. He could already picture Jonny working there, relaxing there; maybe on that bit of grass over there, with his acoustic guitar, he smiled at the image.
“It is a bit unkempt,” Jonny was saying, “but it’s got a lot of potential, it’s something to keep me busy for a while, to keep my mind off the touring and stuff,” he chuckled.
