I laid on my back scrolling through Twitter when I heard a commotion out in the hall. It had been a couple hours since we had parted ways at the steakhouse. It was just getting louder, so I pushed myself up and went to the door. I looked through the hole and saw that it was Mark and Jack arguing. Mark stormed off and Jack struggled with his door. Was he drunk? Him tilting from side to side answered that question, and I opened my door.
"Jack, are you ok?" I asked quietly. He turned and his eyes widened as he saw me.
"Oh, Katie it's you! Yeah I'm just peachy!" He stumbled and leaned against the door behind him. My key card was in my back pocket, so I closed my door and went to help him.
"Where's your card?" He started giggling like a high schooler.
"It's in my wallet, in my back pocket." I blushed as I reached behind him. My hand was fully in his pocket when he wrapped his arms around my waist and turned us so I was against the door. He smelled like whiskey, which was odd, since I thought he had said in a video somewhere that he really didn't like it. That odd smile was back, and so was the irritation by his eye. I quickly pulled his wallet out and looked for the room key. I was incredibly uncomfortable as I turned around and opened his door. He was holding himself up on the door frame and that dark haze was back.
"Um, here's your wallet. Do you think you can get to bed ok?" He started chuckling and met my gaze. I covered my mouth and backed up, not meaning to go into his hotel room, but he stood above me and followed me. He slammed the door shut, only the little light above the door lighting the large room.
"Hmmm, it's been a while since he let me out, and around an innocent woman no less. I can't help but wonder, does he like you?" His voice was different; much deeper and gravely. I felt tears come to my eyes. No, this couldn't be happening to him. Not to my Jack, the only one who made me smile anymore. He laughed more and there was a light green glow in his left eye. Suddenly fan art flooded my head, and I backed away further, tripping over his bag.
"I thought you were just supposed to be a joke," I whispered. He started laughing again and the light flickered, making him look even scarier.
"Ah yes, I used to be, but I think you of all people would know how quickly we can become real." He came closer, and I noticed there was dark smoke around his feet. I scrambled backwards, but he was quicker than me. He leaned over me and grabbed the collar of my sweatshirt, pulling my face to his. My heart was racing, and for some reason I started focusing on how he seemed to look more handsome than normal Jack.
"No this can't be happening," I whined, hoping he'd let me go; hoping Jack was still in some sort of control. He chuckled more and picked me up and pressed me against a wall. He leaned so close that I could feel the stubble on his face.
"Say my name," he whispered, sending shivers down my spine. Why was I finding this attractive?!
"No!" I said defiantly as I tried to get out of his grasp. He laughed in my ear and pressed against me, keeping me pinned, and moved his hand to my neck, forcing me to face him. His face was more sinister now, and I was scared but attracted at the same time.
"Say. My. Name," he demanded. I gasped as his hand tightened around my neck. "Say it!" Tears streamed down my face.
"Anti," I gasped, and he let me go. I fell to the floor, coughing and trying to catch my breath. I felt his hand run through my hair, and he suddenly pulled it. I cried out, but he slammed his other hand over my mouth.
"Now now, we can't have you screaming and ruining this convention for him. What would it do to his career?" he asked in mock worry. My tears were building up on his hand. I was so scared, and I had no way out of this.
Let me out. I can protect you, remember?
Anti looked around and then deep into my eyes. He knew she was there. Would he want her to come out?
"Hmm... I don't think I want to deal with you yet." He let my hair go, and my head hung towards the ground. I felt his fingers brush across my neck, causing me to shiver, and he pulled back my sweatshirt. I stayed still out of fear, and soon felt his hot breath on my neck. His lips touched me, and I flinched away. He laughed again and I felt and heard him move away. "I'm sure we'll meet again. I am getting stronger," he whispered, and even though he was a few feet away, it sounded like he was right next to me. Suddenly I heard him trip over something and curse, but it was Jack's voice. I stood and looked at him, seeing him rubbing his face and slurring his Irish swearing. I made a sigh of relief and knelt beside him.
"Jack, are you ok?" At the sound of my voice, he looked at me, and I could clearly see both blue eyes, which relieved me even more. He still smelled like whiskey, but he seemed sober now.
"Katie, how did you get in here?"
"You asked me for help, and I've been making sure you didn't hurt yourself." He frowned and nodded, pushing himself up.
"Well, thank you, then. I think I'll be ok now, if you want to go back to your room." I nodded with a small smile.
"I'll see you tomorrow at the convention." He nodded, not really paying attention, and I went back to my room. I was shaking as I closed my door, still able to feel his hand around my neck. Part of me wanted more, and it wasn't because of Vanessa. I rubbed my face and got ready for bed. I just needed to clear my mind, and forget what had just happened.
