Just like that it was winter break.
It all went by in a blur. School, Christmas and before I knew it, it was the day I had been waiting for weeks to come.
New Years Eve.
It was the first year I was going to be away from my family. Andrea's parents were throwing a party and the whole crew was invited, including our newest member Nick.
I was officially in full-on freak out mode. I had not stopped shaking for at least a week and my brain was officially goo from working on overdrive thinking about all that could happen tonight.
A few days before I dyed my hair a dark brown and had lightly curled it for the night. My makeup was simple, just winged eyeliner and a little concealer.
Before I knew it Melinda was knocking at my front door.
"Hello my love, are you ready to party?" She asked as she invited herself in, taking a banana off of my kitchen sink and walking back out to her car.
"I guess I have no choice" I laughed as I followed her, braving the steps to my front porch in my deathly high wedges.
The party was a formal, suit and tie affair. Andrea's dad is the CEO of a huge electronic company, so the party was bound to be crawling with socialites and big-wigs, so I was dressed to impress. I had on a pale purple waist length dress with a nude belt and my killer nude colored wedges to match.
"I don't think I can do this. Maybe I should just get out of the car and spend New Year's Eve with my parnets playing Jenga and watching the performances on TV. You know I am really excited to see if Miley falls over while twerking tonight or humps any other middle-aged men. It could be very fun and educat-"
"Will you shut the hell up?" Melinda cut in, "I know you're nervous about Nick being there but I see the way he looks at you. He's going to kiss you tonight when that ball drops I know it, but you have to actually GO for that to happen"
"That's not the only thing I'm worried about. Drea's parents had their musical guest that was playing for the night cancel on them, so she convinced them to let me sing. An original song. In front of some of the richest and most important people in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama was there. IM NOT PREPARED TO SING IN FRONT OF OBAMA MELINDA!" I yelled at my best friend who looked both amused and frightened.
"Too late to turn back now love" She said as we pulled up to the front gates of the Garmez estate. Once we pulled up to the front door, a valet took the keys and we walked inside.
"I swear, their toilet paper cost more than my house" I said and earned weird looks from a couple who happened to overhear me.
"Excuse me, could you please step away from me? I don't wanna catch old" I covered Melinda's mouth and mutters apoligies and walked over to our friends.
Everyone was there except for Madison, Gabrielle and Nick.
"You guys have a fountain? In your house? This is sick!" Shaeleigh said as she walked up to us, a plate of food in one hand and probably some form of alcohol she sneaked in the other.
"Yes and my dear Shae, your shoes don't exactly scream 'formal'" Drea said and we all looked down at her shoes, which happened to be well worn down high top convers.
"What can I say? I like my shoes like I like my men, worn and begging for affection" She said and all of us laughed at her. While the rest of the group was in light conversation about how their break was, I noticed Nick walk in the huge front door.
He was wearing a black button-down shirt the clung onto his body and just slightly outlined his stellar phisique, with a pale purple tie black pants and black shoes. I felt my body warm at just the sight of him, and if people weren't there I am almost positive I would've tried to rape him.
"Same tie and dress color again? I'm starting to feel like this isn't a coincidence" Nick said as he got close enough to us to talk.
"Did the neighbors say something? I bribed them not to tell you I was in the bushes!" I exclaimed and we both laughed.
He came over and hugged me. It was the type of huge you wished would never end, where I could put my head in the crook of his neck and smell his cologne as his warmth radiated off of him. "Nick, you seriously are a human furnace" I said as we let go of each other and had to face the bitter cold of Drea's house again.
"And you're a human icicle, Edward Cullan. Come here" he said as he wrapped his strong arms around my torso, closing any distance between us.
"If i' m Edward you're Jacob" I said in his ear as he held me.
"I'll try not to transform then, I just bought this shirt" He laughed.
"Kiera its time" Drea said as she dragged me away from Nick to the stage she just so convieniently had in the middle of her house.
"Guess its now or never" I whispered as I took the microphone.

It was 11:50 and I hadn't seen Nick since I stepped on stage. I had talent agents and record label producers handing me their cards left and right and between all the commotion I didn't have a second to talk to any of my friends let alone the guy I had been waiting the whole night to see.
"Have you seen Nick?" I screamed above the generic electronic music playing as I pryed apart Candace and Madison, who were groping each other on the dance floor. For middle-aged parents, Andrea's Mom and Dad knew how to throw a New Year's party.
"No, now leave us the hell alone!" Candace screamed back and went back to dancing with Madison. I rolled my eyes and continued to walk to through the huge house in search for a certain brown-eyed boy.
"Ow! Oh man I'm so sorry!" I said when I walked backwards and collided into another body, our two heads crashing together painfully.
"No it's my fau-Kiera?" I turned around to see just the boy I've been looking all night to find.
"I've been looking all over for you!" Nick and I exclaimed at the same time, making the both of us laugh lightly.
"You have?" I asked and he nodded, "why?"
"I could ask you the same thing" he said rather mysteriously as he looked into my eyes.
"I just thought that we should ring in the new year together" I said truthfully, although I left out the part where I wished he would grab me, pull me into his arms and kiss me passionately when the ball dropped.
"Same" he smiled softly. I checked the clock on the wall that read 11:59. I grabbed his hand and pulled him into the TV room, where the majority of the party had come to count down to the new year.

1 happy New Year!" Everyone screamed and cheered and blew noise makers and kissed each other.
"This year, I am going to start going for what I want" Nick said into my ear.
He cupped my face in his hands and kissed me. Short and sweet, yet sending electrifying tingles all over every inch of my body.
"Happy new year Kiera" he smiled and hugged me, swept away yet again by the excitement that is the new year.
"Kier, we have to go!" Melinda came out of the crowd and grabbed me, pulling me away from the love of my life who I just so happened to kiss.
"You know, you're a real fucking mood killer Melinda" I said as I climbed, yet again, into the passenger seat of her car.
But no matter how mad I was, I just couldn't seem to wipe the smile off of my face.
