Derek feigned ignorance. "What is it?" Jennifer brought his head closer, her eyes locking with his. "Promise you'll listen to me." Derek nodded, "I promise."
Jennifer sealed his promise with a kiss, her hands entangling them in his dark hair. Suddenly, she stopped, pulling away from him slowly. She didn't open her eyes. "They're already here, aren't they?"
Scott, Stiles, and Sabrina came back around the corner again. Sabrina was standing on her own this time, but Stiles still held tightly onto her hand, probably more for his benefit than hers. She was still a little dizzy, her head pounding, but she could think clearer now.
"They told you it was me?" Ms. Blake asked, looking back at Derek, "That I'm the one taking people?"
"We told him you're the one killing people," Scott spat. Derek looked down at her pleading face. "Oh, that's right. Committing human sacrifices? What, cutting their throats?" she demanded, shaking her head, "Yeah, I probably do it on my lunch hour. That way, I can get back to teaching high school English the rest of the day. That makes perfect sense."
Sabrina saw the tears shining in Stiles' eyes again, one rolling down his cheek. "Where's my dad?" he asked, his normally stable voice cracking with emotion. Ms. Blake furrowed her eyebrows, seemingly innocent. "How should I know?" she asked, before turning back to Derek. "Derek, tell me you don't believe this." Derek stared down at her, "Do you know what happened to Stiles' father?"
"No."
"Ask her why she almost killed Lydia," Sabrina said, her voice cracking. Ms. Blake's dark head swung around to face them, an incredulous look on it. "Lydia Martin? I don't know anything about that," she said.
"What do you know?" asked Derek. Jennifer gripped his bicep affectionately again. "I know that these teenagers, for whatever misguided reason, are filling your head with some... a-absurd story. One they can't prove, by the way."
"What if we can?" Scott said, pulling out a small jar filled with a reddish powder. Jennifer's face paled. "W-what... What is that?"
Scott started to unscrew the lid. "My boss told me it's a poison and a cure... which means you can use it, and it can be used against you." He tossed the dust at her and Ms. Blake screamed, throwing her arms up. Her figure flickered once, twice, before the dust settled and she hissed, "Mistletoe?"
Derek wasted no time, gripping the woman by the throats and hoisting her off of her feet. "Derek, wait, wait! You need me," she hastily said, her voice strained. The alpha growled and set his jaw. "What are you?"
"The only person who can save your sister," she snapped, scratching at his hand, "Call Peter. Call him!"
Derek stared at her a moment before he pulled out his phone and quickly dialed up Peter's number. "It's not good," they heard Peter say, "She's in and out of consciousness, vomiting up black blood, along with one other alarming substance."
"Mistletoe," Derek guessed, glaring at Jennifer. He didn't wait for Peter's reply, only threw the phone down and squeezed on Jennifer's windpipe. The woman gasped, her eyes bulging.
"Derek, what are you doing?" Scott said, starting to interrupt. They would never find the sheriff without her, never save Cora. "Her life..." she stammered out, "It's in my hands!"
