Sunlight streamed through the flower patterned curtains and illuminated the room. I had woken up in a strange place and I had no idea where I was. Again. I inwardly scolded myself. I found myself covered with a large blanket, not clothed underneath and I sat up and yawned, on the bed.

Getting up, I wrapped the blanked tightly around myself and made my way to one of the two doors. It was locked shut, so I tried the other, to avail. I huffed and turned around. The room was painted a bright blue and it contained nothing more than the essential bed and dresser. It had one medium sized window at the right side of the room, with curtains that fluttered with a light breeze.

I heard clashing of metal, walked over to it and looked out the window. There was an open field outside, where men were sparring. Where am I? I asked myself and let out a breath.

The door opened behind me and I turned around to find a woman walking in. She was plump, looked like she was in her sixties and overall had a homey appearance. She looked at me and smiled.

"I see you're awake dear." She said as she shut the door and moved closer to me. "How are you feeling?" I pulled the blanket tighter around me, being cautious.

"I'm fine." I said as she put her hand on my forehead and checked my eyes.

"You seem to be alright." Then she got up and rummaged in the dresser. "By the way, I'm Fern. What's your name dear?" She said then handed me a folded towel and gown.

"Aria." She seemed nice, so I offered her a smile. She smiled back.

"A beautiful name, Aria."

"Thank you."

"Now go wash up." She said while guiding me towards the second door. She opened it and it revealed a bathtub and a toilet.

"Go on in." She said and shut the door behind me.

I dropped the blanket and stretched my wings. I stepped into the bath and cautiously lowered myself into it, then turned on the faucet. The water was warm and I relaxed, but it didn't last long. I sat there soaking and tried to remember how I got there, but all I could remember was stepping into the pool, and, someone's grey eyes.

Maybe I was hurt. I checked my body for signs of injury but I found nothing except some strange markings on my left wrist, that formed a pair of wings. It seemed to flutter and change colour. Blue to red to orange. I stared, transfixed and ran my fingertips across it.

I turned away and stared at my feet. I was growing frustrated by the second. It just added to my questions. Was I branded? It didn't look like an ordinary branding and it didn't hurt, It tingled on my wrist.

Groaning in mental exhaustion, I washed myself , dried off and got dressed in the simple green gown I was given. When I walked out, I saw that Fern had left a tray of food for me, on the dresser. I walked towards it and my stomach rumbled when I saw that the contents were a steaming bowl of soup, and some bread. I scarfed it down quickly with the water set beside it.

My hunger satisfied but my brain starving, I decided to go look for Fern to ask some questions, instead of staring at the ceiling. I found that the door was unlocked, easing away the fear that I was a prisoner, so I slipped out into the hallway. I followed a series of turns and a flight of stairs, till I found a door that lead outside.

People were hurriedly walking back and forth, I even caught a few stares. Ignoring them, I walked towards a woman holding and basket, but before it got there, I was knocked to the ground and landed on my wings. I cringed in pain.

"You should really watch where you're going." A female voice said. She offered me a hand and I gladly took it.

I brushed off the dirt on my gown and looked up to her to see her gaping at my wings, wide eyed. She was about my age, blonde, green eyed and looked like she would just burst with energy.

"I'm sorry, do you happen to know where Fern is?" I asked and that seemed to pull her out of her trance.

She grinned and bopped her head up and down. I laughed. "She asked me to come get you." She grabbed my hand and pulled me along, across the yard, but stopped mid way.

"Are you really the fae from the prophecy?" She asked in awe.

"What prophecy?" More confusion.

"You don't know?" I nodded. "Then, the prince will clear it all up." She said like it was the most normal thing in the world.

"Prince?"

"Yes the prince of Axen. He saved you in the forest and brought you here." I was shocked.

"The Prince, Queen and royal officials are waiting for you, so we better get a move on." She said and pulled me along .

"I'm Ira, by the way." She said while she literally dragged me through the halls.

"Aria." I said, when we stopped in front of two large doors.

"Well, this is it. Good luck." She grinned and walked away. I took a deep breath and knocked the doors. They were opened and I stepped in to see a woman sitting on a throne, talking to a man about my age and others sitting round a semi-circular table, who turned to face me.

The room had white walls and gold curtains. The twin thrones where both gold with red trimming, and the semi-circular table was in front of them and black.

I made my way forward, in the calmest way I could.

#Dilan#

The girl walked towards us calmly, with her hands intertwined in front of her. When she was halfway towards us, mother walked up to her and took her hands.

"Welcome. We are honoured to have you here with us." The girl looked shocked, but said nothing.

"I am queen Nevaeh of Axen, and this is my son, Dilan." Mother went on. "He brought you here. He told me you were in the hands of fae traffickers. Is that true."

"I don't remember."

I scoffed. Was this who they expected to save Axen? I earned a glare from mother. "Would you kindly introduce yourself?"

The girl nodded shyly and looked at us all, with a sudden air of boldness.

"I am Aria Ridian. I come from Ceres in Axen. There is nothing special about me apart from my birth. I am grateful for your kindness and hospitality, but I am just an ordinary fae, so I don't know why you are honoured to have me your highness."

At first the room was dead silent. I stood there, surprised at her confidence.

Then mother spoke. "My dear, you are no ordinary fae. I'm sure you are aware of what you are. You are capable of much more than you have knowledge of." Mother smiled. "You are the one to save Axen from the darkness."

"Your highness. I cannot save Axen from the darkness. I may be an abnormality of genetics but not a saviour." She sighed "I believe I have taken enough of your time your highness. If you'll excuse me I'll be on my way." She bowed and began to leave, but my mother held her arm.

"Aria, I understand this is a lot to take in, but please think about it. Axen needs y-"

"What is the point of this mother?" I had had enough." She can't save us. She can't save anyone. If she is the one from the so called prophecy, then why couldn't she save herself from a few men?"

"Watch your tone, Dilan. Aria is our guest and you will treat her with respect."

"Forgive me mother, but she said it herself. She can't help us. This is a waste of time." I was done arguing. I stormed out, but not before hearing my mother saying,

"Think about it Aria. Stay for one more day."

How was it? Do you think Aria will agree to help? And what about Dilan's attitude. If you've read this far, I want to say thank you, and I will update as often as I can. Why don't you put a smile on my face by tapping that star down there. Tell your friends.
