Brian POV
I look down at Lorea, who fell asleep with her head on my lap.
Shit, I wanna lay down.
I slowly shake her awake a little and get up. I grab a blanket and go to lay on the floor, but Lorea grabs my wrist.
"I don't want to lay here alone."
"Why?" I ask I have a feeling, I just want to confirm it.
"That's the first time in years someone's laid their hands on me, it scared me." Just as I thought...
"Why don't I scare you?" She looks at me,
"You love Mia, a lot. Someone who can love anybody that much could never do anything like what that guy at the bar wanted to do."
I look at her. Damn, she doesn't miss anything. I sit next to her on the couch, and she scoots forward and puts her head back on my lap. She falls back asleep. After awhile I carry her into the hallway.
There's a knock on the kitchen door. Then, the door opens, I hear footsteps and Dom walk through the doorway into the living room. He looks at me holding her, and I set her down in her room and walk back out.
"A guy got handsy," I say, "he's a bloody puddle on the bar floor now though," he looks pissed, not at me though.
"I told her she could go home, and I didn't see it happen, I heard about a younger racer getting hit on and it ended bloody, so I did what I had to and got home to check on her," he says. "I should've walked her to the car,"
"Dom, she had a gun out and was ready to shoot that guy before I pulled him off of her-"
"You pulled him off?" I nod. "Thank you," he says," she didn't need that happening, after all the things that have been thrown at her, she didn't need that."
I knew what he was talking about, that guy was ready to rape her. That's why I didn't want to back off, I wasn't just mad at him for coming on to her, I was mad at his intentions.
"That would never happen," he looks at me,"I'd die before that would happen to her,"
"Why?"
"She's like my little sister, I'd never forgive myself,"
He looks at me,
"I can't believe I let this happen," he says
"Dom it's not your fault..." I say,
"She's my daughter, my daughter. We may not share DNA but she will always be my daughter. I should've been there," he said this a little louder, and Lorea wanders out of the bedroom door.
"What's going o- DOM!" She yells, she runs to him and he holds her close. I watch as he picks her up, her legs dangling.
"I'm sorry," he says to her. She talks, muffled by his chest
"It's okay," When he puts her down, she mutters a "shit,"
"What is it?"Dom asks.
" I was sleeping in my contacts," he chuckles while she runs to the bathroom.
"Contacts?" I ask.
"When she was like, 9, I had her for the summer, when I came to get her, she walked into my car." I chuckle.
"So, she needed glasses,"
"Yeah, I took her to mia, and Mia took her in, and an hour later when she came back, she had black square glasses and was no longer walking into walls." I laugh and she walks out with black square glasses frames, with red decals on the side.
"I hate those freaking contacts," She mutters.
