'i won't judge'

"Morning, Troye!" I beamed as I stepped out my apartment the next day to be met with the boy to step out at the same time with Bruno.

"Hey, Jacob," he called with a smile while Bruno sat by his side while he locked the door, looking at me happily.

"Hey, Bruno!" I said happily as I kneeled down to his side and pet him.

"Looks like Bruno could control himself this morning," Troye said with a cute chuckle.

"Yeah, but you know its fine Troye. He can't help it," I said as I stood back up to Troye's level. "Off to your first class of the year too?" I asked.

"Yeah I am, you excited for yours?"

"Well yeah kinda I guess, can't be much too excited for school."

"Yeah I see your point," he said with a chuckle.

The whole of the week before had consisted of me either wasting time away in my apartment on the internet, texting Troye, calling Troye or going somewhere with Troye.

As we went down in the elevator I couldn't help but notice how nervous Troye seemed to be.

"You okay Troye?" he looked in my direction and nodded but I was not convinced. I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder to which he did not get startled by unlike when I would accidentally bump knees with him or something and he would get such a fright. He told me he got so antsy because he both preferred his space and also because he could never tell if he was sitting too close to someone and he hated knowing that sometimes he did end up sitting a bit too close to another person sometimes for their own comfort but were too polite to ask him to scoot over. That hurt a bit to hear how anxious that would make him.

"I'm just a bit nervous. I am meeting someone who will basically be my eyes while I make my way around the campus and I don't know. I just get anxious meeting new people and I just hope it is someone nice and actually patient you know?"

"It's going to be fine Troye, and if they end up being someone you can't stand I'm sure than can find someone else," I said while gently moving my hand up and down his tense back. "So relax it will be alright," he actually seemed to listen as I could feel and see the way he let his shoulders relax which made me smile to myself that I was able to calm him down like that.

"Thank you, I think that is really what I needed to hear," I smiled, taking my hand away, somewhat reluctantly.

"Pleasure Troye," I said just as the doors opened while we walked out.

"I will see you later Troye," I said.

"Bye Jacob," he said softly.

I made sure Troye was heading to his correct Uber then made my way to my car to drive to class.

.......

"Hey man, is someone sitting here?" a guy asked, gesturing to the seat beside me.

"No please, take a seat," he smiled gratefully and took the chair out and sat down.

"Scott," he said reaching his hand across to shake my own.

"Jacob," I said shaking his hand rather firmly.

Class went by with no hitch and so did the others. I would say it was actually quite a successful first day really. I mean I got to where I needed to be without getting lost. Scott and I got along really well too, very good thing, since we have like almost all our classes together.

I then made my way to work, preparing myself to get home late and still have things to do. It was worth the good pay though.

"Hey Jacob!" my boss, Jenn, called to me with a bright smile as I stepped through the door.

"Hi Jenn."

"You ready to start your first day?" she asked friendly, carrying a box supposedly taking it to storage or something.

"Yup," I said brightly, making my way over to the counter.

The first hour went by quickly, the store got a lot more customers than I would have thought really. And by the second hour a customer came in, a familiar face to me.

"Hey Troye!" I called from where I was hanging up a few shirts. His head shot up at the sound of his name while Bruno also looked happily to me but not leaving Troye's side.

"Hey Jacob! Wait, that is you right?" he asked in question while I made my way over to him.

"Yeah it is," I said with a smile.

"Good, that could have gotten very awkward very quickly," he said with a laugh while I just smiled.

"Want something in particular? I can help," I offered while he walked across the several racks of garments, running his hand lightly over them.

"Well no, not really," he said making his way over to me, remembering where he had heard the sound of my voice. "Can I tell you something that may sound weird?" he asked.

"Yeah go ahead I won't judge."

"I come to clothing stores purely to just touch the different kinds of fabrics. I don't know why but it just makes me happy. It's like a strange sense of comfort," he bowed his head down to the floor bashfully while I just smiled at how cute he was being. "The only explanation I can come up with is that I am just grateful to have all my other my senses. I try not to take them for granted that I still have my sense of smell, taste, hearing and touch," he said as he ran his hand over a silk dress that hung beside him. "You get what I'm saying or do I sound like a loon?" he asked playfully.

This really made me think. Here was a boy who had lost one of the most important things a human needs and that I take for granted every day. And here Troye was, making the most of what he had left. My heart felt really heavy.

"Wow Troye, you made me just rethink my whole life here," I said lightly, yet at the same time I meant it, he really changed that part of my perspective on life. "No you don't sound like a loon at all, you sound like ,and you are so...I don't know how else to say it but so wise for your age. I never really think about these things and take them for granted everyday."

"So what you are saying is that was a real eye opener," he laughed at his own self depreciating joke but I didn't, it was not my place, at least I didn't think it was. "Oh come on J," he said rolling his eyes playfully with a smile. "That was funny and if you not laughing because you feel bad for laughing at the blind guy I am grateful for the consideration but I truthfully prefer for you to laugh along, makes me feel a little closer to normal you know?"

I then understood his thinking.

I laughed along then, it was quite funny.
