Chapter Thirty Five - "I Mean, Except For Yours..."
___Avery's P.O.V
"Where's mom and dad?" I ask Aunty Heather as she pours herself a coffee. I sip my mint hot chocolate and watch as my Aunty frowns.
"My father decided to take your mom somewhere last night to clear their mind. They told me they would be home late tonight so it's just Joshua, you and I for the night." Aunty Heather smiles and I nod, placing my empty cup on the bench.
"Okay, well, I have to go. I'm going to be late." I say and Aunty Heather nods. Before I could leave though, I hear Aunty Heather cough, making me turn back around to see her arms wide out in front of her.
"Don't I get a hug?" Aunty Heather asks and I chuckle, walking up to her and hugging her tight. Aunty Heather kisses my hair and pulls me away.
"Sort things out with Logan today. Life is too short to be holding any anger towards the person you love." Aunty Heather says and I sigh, shrugging. I walk out the door and notice a car parked behind mine.
I smile and walk towards Claire's car, opening the door and hopping in. Claire drives down the street and I notice that she seems happy today. I look at her, my eyebrows furrowing as I look at Claire's smile that spreads across her face.
"Why are you in such a good mood?" I ask Claire and she shrugs, turning left as we pulling out the school's parking lot. She cuts the engine and looks at me, the smile not wiping of her face.
"I was talking to Henry last night and he said he... he still likes me!" Claire says, a small and short squeal escaping her lips. I narrow my eyes at her and grab her hand.
"Claire, you just got out of a relationship. Don't you want to wait?" I ask Claire and she shrugs.
"I don't see the point of waiting. I do like him though." Claire says and I nod, letting go of her hand.
"Okay, Claire. As long as your happy, I'll be happy." I say and Claire smiles, pulling me into a quick hug. I smile and hug her back before letting go of her and getting out of the car.
We walk into the school building and notice Katie walking to us. "Practice today at lunch." Katie says, not bothering to make any eye contact with us as she just scurries past in a hurry. I nod to myself and open my locker, grabbing my books out for today.
"Hey, I heard that Jade got arrested yesterday." I hear a voice behind me say and I turn around to see Chance frowning at me. I narrow my eyes at him and lean against the lockers, crossing my arms across my chest.
"Whats it to you?" I ask, completely annoyed that Chance still bothers me even though Logan clearly said that I was off limits, especially to this guy.
"Look, Ava, I know I've caused you so much pain and misery but please let me explain after school. If you could meet me at the coffee shop downtown, I would gladly appreciate it." Chance says and before I could say a word, he turns around and walks down the hall. I frown at Claire who is looking between Chance and I with confusion clear on her face.
"Are you going to go? Because if you do, you know Logan will find out and there will be a lot of drama." Claire says and I nod, shutting my locker.
"There is already enough drama between us and besides, it's not up to him. It's my decision." I say and Claire raises an eyebrow at me.
"So your considering it?" Claire asks and I shrug.
"I want to hear what Chance has to say." I say and Claire sighs before nodding. We start to walk to our first class but suddenly, someone grabs my shoulder and turns me around. I look at the person in front of me and I gap at him.
