"Can we talk?" Sam asked as he handed her a coffee a few days later. She stood up and kissed his cheek gently, "congratulations daddy," she smiled and he looked at her,
"I'm sorry for how I treated you," he told her and she nodded,
"And I you... We should have known we weren't well suited... I'm not sure you should base marriage on good sex,"
"Just good?" He smiled and she laughed, causing Jacob to look over and smile, "okay, great sex."
"You love him don't you?" He asked, watching as she nodded,
"Yes," she admitted, "I will always love you, and I will always owe you for helping me after Michael," she told him honestly, "but I love him and I want to spend my life with him,"
He smiled at her, "finally found someone to run with you hey?"
She nodded, "and you and Bex?"
He shrugged, "it only happened a few times... When we watched back wife swap I saw how well you and Jacob got on and I..." He shrugged, "I saw how he helped you after that man wanted keys to the drug cupboard and I recognised the way you looked back at him,"
"We didn't do anything then," she told him, and he nodded.
"We're not together... I've promised her to do the best for our daughter, but we're not together,"
"I'd like it if we could stay friends Sam," she told him and he nodded, "I'd really like that too."
She hugged him tightly, "I can't believe you're a dad..."
"Better grow up a bit hadn't I..." He smiled and she nodded.
"Connie," Jacob shouted up the stairs, unable to wipe the smirk of his face as she appeared at the top of the stairs dressed only in her her underwear, her hair and make up done to perfection.
"You have twenty minutes so get up here and shower... You're so late I had to shower alone," she pouted and he grabbed her arm as she went to disappear back into her bedroom.
"Do we have to go? He asked and she wrapped her arms gently around his neck,
"If you promise to stay up I could go alone,"
He rolled his eyes and he removed his clothes, "I had images in my head of how you looked that night for weeks, I am not letting you go alone."
"You now have 15 minutes to get ready," she smiled, kissing his mouth before pulling on her dress.
"Connie Beauchamp, you look an absolute vision," Michael smiled, shaking Jacobs hand before he handed them both a drink.
"She looks happy," Michael commented as they watched Connie laugh as Ric spun her around, "don't hurt her Jacob,"
Jacob nodded, "I love her more than I thought it was possible to love someone," he told him sincerely, "I'll never hurt her Michael,"
She sat gently on his knee as they watched their drunken colleagues dancing, "have you slept with Michael?" Jacob asked and Connie ran her hand across his face, "countless times," she admitted, "but he's one of my best friends and we will never go there again,"
He smiled at her honesty, "I've enjoyed tonight," she told him quietly, "I like being here with you... And knowing you're watching me,"
"I can't help it," he admitted, "you're beautiful..."
"Will you take me home staff nurse masters?"
"I thought you'd never ask."
