22 | REAL LIFE

A ROUND OF APPLAUSE broke out as Lance Tucker completely his perfectly done routine. His hands were stretched out above his head, his chest heaving from the rush. Louise clapped along with the crowd, shocked at how good his movements were. She was mesmerised by his routine, — well, she was mostly mesmerised at how his biceps flexed and looked amazing during the whole thing, but that's besides the point, he really was a good gymnast. After a couple more moments in soaking in the glory, Lance walked off the mat with a sly grin on his face, confident in himself.

"You did great, Lance!" An annoying, preppy voice said, flinging her arms around his neck and hugging him. Louise rolled her eyes as Lance grinned and wrapped an arm around Kelly's waist, and beside her, Jess scoffed.
"Disgusting." Jess said, voicing Louise's exact thoughts.

"Up next, we have Kelly Smith!" The commentator called.

Lance unwrapped his arm from  her exposed waist and placed his hand on her jaw, "Good luck." He said, then left her side and went to the table to get a drink of water, where people congratulated him on his performance.

"Louise, are you okay?" Jess piped up, a hand placed on the brunette's shoulder.

Louise snapped out of her daze. Without her knowing, she had been glaring at the back of Kelly's head – whom was now midst performance – as though she was attempting to telepathically melt her brain. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Jess gave her best friend a look, one saying she was not convinced. "You're just... off. That's all."

"There's nothing wrong." She said. But Louise knew otherwise.

Today was the first day she's seen Lance since the whole... conversation, and it was the first time in a long time where the mood between them wasn't unfriendly. Sure, before the whole petty argument, Lance and Louise weren't exactly the best of buds, but they didn't exactly loathe each other. However now, there was a new dynamic between them, and they could both feel it.

Hell, Louise certainly felt it. She could feel the undeniable jealousy burning through her whenever she watched Lance lay a single finger on Kelly. She hated the fact that he could stand her, and she was clueless as to their relationship. She didn't know whether they were in a relationship, or just fooling around, but either way, she detested the idea. She could also feel the slight twist in her stomach whenever she looked at him. She knew what this feeling was, and fuck, did she hate it. She tried to push it away and bury it down, but it always came bubbling up whenever he was in her proximity.

"And that was a brilliant performance from Kelly Smith, whom never fails to amaze us." The loud voice emitting from the speakers said again. Louise didn't notice how long she stood thinking to herself, because Kelly's 10 minute routine had already come and gone, and hers was only a short 15 minutes away. "And next up, we have the lovely and amazing, Jess Wright."

Louise turned to the blonde who was wringing her hands together in preparation. She placed two hands on either shoulder and looked her dead in the eyes. "You give 'em hell, Jess. And fucking crush that bitch." The blonde grinned at Louise's words of encouragement, and nodded. Louise placed a quick peck on Jess's cheek and patted her back.

"Now go on up and show them what you got."
