Two days went by and everything seemed to calm down around Bucky and even get slightly better. His fever was going down and the bleeding stopped. All because of Steve.
Steve walked into Bucky's room holding a plate of food in his hands. "Good morning," said Steve.
Bucky's eyes lit up in excitement, he was starving and he wanted nothing more than to eat fish he could already smell it.
Steve smiled at him and placed the plate onto the small side table next to the bed. Bucky sat up as Steve sat the plate on the tray in front of him.
"I assume you like crabs?" said Steve .
"Fish," Bucky replied happily."Good, I brought you more." Steve says as he reached down into the bag he had brought in and pulled out a bunch of crab legs. Bucky's eyes widened at seeing the bounty in front of him.
"Thank you," He whispers quietly. Steve smiles before grabbing a crab leg and breaking it in half for Bucky to take and eat.
After eating two whole crabs each he looked up at Steve with wide doe eyes, "Is that all I can eat?" asked Bucky.
"Well I can send up more if you want, you must be starving.." Steve responds, Bucky nods. Steve chuckles amused and gets up to call a servant so the cooks could prepare more crabs and other things for Bucky.
Bucky watched him walk away then turned his attention back to the tray. When he was finished with the last crab leg searching around for more the door opened again to reveal another woman.
She stepped inside and smiled gently at him.
"Hello, I'm Sarah, your really hungry aren't you?" She said and Bucky nodded yes."Alright, I'll get these plates ready and then you can eat," she added. Bucky looked at her expectantly wondering how much longer he'd have to wait till he could eat.
"What happened? What's your name?" she asked.
Bucky blinked in surprise. Why was this stranger asking about him, they had no reason to, he never saw them before so why would he tell her anything.
"Why should I tell you my name?" Bucky retorts, Sarah gave him an unreadable smile before shaking her head and walking back out of the room without a reply.
The door closed with a loud bang, Bucky flinched slightly, but he tried to keep a neutral facial expression hoping not to show any fear or weakness.
He heard shuffling outside the room, then a few moments later, Steve returned carrying a stack of books and papers. Steve put down the books on a desk near the window then proceeded to sit on the edge of the bed.
"How are you feeling now?" asked Steve.
"Fine" answered Bucky, "That human wanted to know my name.." he mumbled."Do you feel comfortable talking to humans?"
Bucky shook his head, he wasn't really comfortable speaking at all. 'Unless he was speaking to Steve it was something about the prince that intrigued him'
He stared at the book the prince was holding. Steve chuckled lightly. "You have a lot to learn about human society." Steve told him. Bucky nodded his head slowly not wanting to make eye contact.
"We have rules set in place for the people in our kingdom," Steve says before flipping through the pages,
"Most of them are very simple, some are difficult though and a lot of them are based on your personal history." Steve glanced up from the page towards Bucky who was listening intently.
"But most of us follow the laws, and since I'm soon to be a king I'll make new rules to help my kingdom." Steve explained, Bucky raised an eyebrow skeptically.
"But I'm a good person, I try not to kill anyone, and I try to protect others, that kind of stuff counts for a lot, I believe in it, and the royal family believes in it too." Steve smiled warmly at him.
"I don't like rules, I don't like being controlled, I don't like being stuck. That's what my father wanted." Bucky said.
Steve frowned slightly. "Your father was a king wasn't he?" Steve responded. "Yes, but that doesn't matter anymore because I'm sure he's dead." Said Bucky harshly.
"Bucky..."
"Stop asking me questions!" snapped Bucky, the room grew quiet.
"I'm sorry," Steve apologized quietly. "Just leave me alone please. " Bucky said quietly as tears pricked the corners of his eyes.
"I won't ask you questions ever again," Steve promised.
