-Artemis POV-
We get Tyler home a lot sooner than first anticipated, he was doing really well and was only in the hospital for a little over a week. His now bald head had a large scar above his left ear and he still looked pretty good without hair. He has to return soon to start chemotherapy but he was just over the hospital food and ready to be in a familiar setting. Annabelle and I had his room done up nice and so it was easy for him to get around. A bunch of the guys from the Bills had sent him stuff so we put it all up around his room, I really hope he will be able to play again.
"Can you make dinner pleaseee" he begs Annabelle and she grows a smile.
"Of course. What do you want" she asks skimming through the pantry.
"How about hot dogs" he suggest and she laughs.
"Can do" she sing songs as she heads to the fridge while I sat with him on the couch. "
"How are you feeling. Do you need anything" I ask as he picks a channel.
"I think I'm good. Thanks again for sticking around, you don't have to do that" he reminds me after finding the pregame show for game 7 of the World Series.
"Are you kidding. I love your sister and you're pretty awesome too" I admit giving him a little nudge. Even with this horrible situation he's been so great to be around. It's as if nothing ever happened.
"You're a cool guy. I'm glad my sister let you in" he says before covering his mouth. Was he not supposed to say that? I raise my eyebrow and he lets out a long breath. "Forget I said that" he says quickly and I nod before letting it fall silent. Okay, that was weird. Why would he say that? Before I could question him further Anna returns with a plate of hot dogs in their respective buns and chips. The little part of me that was American got very excited, hot dogs and baseball, I gotta be doing something right. We all relaxed and enjoyed the food and watched the big game.
Baseball wasn't my thing, I enjoyed soccer more but was really into this game. "Just like old times, huh sis" Tyler asks from the love seat.
"Yeah, but maybe I won't get a black eye this time" she says nailing him in the chest with a pillow.
"Hey! That was one time" he defends and I couldn't help but laugh, these two are hilarious. We watch the game and no one really talks much. The one game seven I've been in was intense, but this was a whole 'nother level.
"KEEP HIM IN THE GAME WHAT ARE YOU DOING" Tyler screams as he Cubs manager changes the pitchers. I don't know a lot about baseball but that guy was doing good as far as I knew.
"Ty be careful with your head, I don't feel like making a hospital run tonight" Anna warns and he sits back.
"Fine, but only because I respect your wishes" he says settling down.
"It's all I ask" she says finally relaxing a little too.
After the 9th inning ends with the game now tied I finally realize why people are so into this sport and more specifically this team.
"So does this mean we can call Hossa grandpa" I ask referring to the guy who is a little older than Hoss which they call grandpa on the Cubs team.
"Not if you want to live" Annabelle laughs and i nod, she had a point.
The game resumes after a very short and probably unneeded rain delay and I see Anna turn a little gloomy.
"What's wrong sweetie" I ask while ignoring Tyler's gagging sounds.
"Look at Chapman, he's been crying" she says.
"How do you know that. He's been on tv for .2 seconds" I ask.
"He's secluded himself and his shoulders are hanging. He's beating himself up" she says.
"Well he's upset babe, this is a big game and he probably wants that pitch back" I say rubbing her back.
"It wasn't his fault though, he should never had been put in" she defends. She has never met this man before and yet is so torn up that he is unhappy. She cares so much but at the same time it's hard for her when people aren't happy.
"That just means when they win he'll feel that much better" I say and she nods.
"Yeah, that's true" she agrees and I nod along with her. We stay up to watch the extra inning and the Cubs finally pull it off.
"Well, I guess if I die I can say I saw the Cubs win the World Series" Tyler jokes picking his things up to go to bed.
"You better not die soon or I'll find you in your afterlife and personally kick your ass" she laughs and he puts his hands up.
"Damn, okay then" he says before disappearing into his room. Anna and I retreat to her room as we crawl under her warm blankets.
"I really think Tyler's going to be okay" I say randomly, causing her to face me.
"Why do you say that" she whispers.
"I can't explain it, I just feel like he is" I say wrapping my arms around her.
"I really hope so. I don't know what I would do without him" she says playing with a curl on top of my head. She drifts off and and I soon follow suit,
"I love you" I mumble before falling in a slumber.
