Jimin wiped his swollen eyes and sat up straight, looking at Taehyung.
"W..what?" Taehyung mumbled, he didn't dare to look up at Jimin.
"It's just..." Jimin smiled.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in a long time or something..." Taehyung's bottom lip started quivering.
"I'm sorry." Taehyung said with his head down, gripping onto Jimin's hand.
Jimin smiled, his eyes turning into moons. It's been a while since Taehyung saw Jimin smile like that. That nurturing smile a mother would have.
"No need to be sorry, I was just plain worried." Jimin ruffled Taehyung hair and looked out the window. His eyes seemed glazed over with a film as those orbs blinked.
"What did the doctor say?" He asked plainly, those filmed eyes glanced towards Taehyung.
"You won't last long..." Taehyung replied truthfully.
"I knew it." Jimin grinned, the corners of his mouth forced upwards.
"Jimin...I'm so, so sorry...I couldn't do anything about..."
"Taehyung, how many times do I have to say it?" Jimin reached out to hold Taehyung's cheeks in his hands, catching the boy off guard. He grinned again before letting go.
"It's not your fault." Jimin looked at the clock after a long pause.
"You...should go...we have a tight schedule today." Jimin urged.
"But..."
"Go."
-
"Jungkook!" Taehyung called after he saw him in the waiting room. His back was hunched over and his hair flung carelessly around in a tousle. Taehyung visibly gulped when Jungkook turned around, his eyes brows furrowed together.
"Taehyung," Jungkook said through his teeth.
"The fuck you want." He stood up, balling his hands to fists. Taehyung held his hands before him and backed away, scared to infuriate the already cranky maknae.
"I'm not here to fight, it's Jimin..." Jungkook lowered his fist and stood his ground. His head cooling for the first time today.
Of course, it's about Jimin.
"Wh...what did the doctor..."
"He's...not gonna last long...about a month or so..."
Jungkook's fists loosened.
"A month...?" Taehyung nodded.
"What did Jimin say?" Jungkook gripped onto the sleeve of his hoodie, he didn't know what to say.
"He told me to go..." Jungkook could hide the quivering in his heavy breaths.
"We have a tight schedule today...maybe we should go, too." His gaze traveled to the ground, indicating that Taehyung should leave.
"I'll call a cab."
"You go first...I have to...go to the bathroom." Jungkook was left alone.
A month. A month was all he had. He ran his fingers through his hair as a tear escaped his left eye. It surprised him, leaving his wondering what has happened to his feelings during the past few weeks. That didn't matter to Jungkook at the moment, because everything is catching up to him quicker than he could handle.
"He's going to leave us in a month?"
-
"One month...? That's all I've got?" The doctor nodded.
"Do I have any other choices than to just wait?" Jimin pleaded, his mind racing at the thought. He sighed, looking down at Jimin.
"We can continue with your treatment, but you only have at most 3% chance of surviving. But if you decide to ignore that fact, you can go now and do what you have to do. Until the day comes...we'll contact you." Jimin looked down at his hands.
3%. Jimin laughed to himself.
"Okay, I'm going to go." The doctor clicked his pen and nods his head at Jimin.
"Take care." Jimin smiled.
"You too."
-
"Should we tell them?" Jungkook and Taehyung sat in one of the small cafes near their apartment, it was Jungkook's favourite place to go when he's depressed or frustrated, in this case, both.
"Tell who?" Jungkook glared at Taehyung.
"You know who I'm talking about." Taehyung sighed and took a sip of his coffee, he stopped to put more cream in it.
"I mean..." Jungkook said, but then he stopped himself. He honestly didn't know what to say.
"I know it was hard for you to take in all this, but I think we should hold for now and see what happens." Jungkook starred at Taehyung.
"Look, Jungkook..." Taehyung crumpled up the empty cream cup.
"You know how much Jimin likes you and you know how long he's going to stay with us...so..." Taehyung grimaced, he wasn't quite sure how to put this into words.
"Please be nice to him for once...just once Jungkook, please...that's all he'll want." Jungkook looked at Taehyung.
"Sure."
-
Jungkook sat alone in his room; it's eerily quiet without Jimin around. He glanced towards Jimin side of the room and grinned when he saw a picture of them together during trainees on Jimin's shelf. Jungkook let out a quite laugh, he remembered when this was taken. It was right after their first dance class, in front of the vending machine. He stood up and went over to the picture and turned the frame over.
'Still owe Jungkookie 3 dollars' Jungkook smiled.
"Idiot..." A knock interrupted his thoughts, he glanced at the clock and it read exactly midnight.
Jungkook looked at the photo again and slid it in his drawer, he closed it carefully and headed for the door.
"Coming!" Jungkook opened the door, to his surprise, it wasn't Jin telling him to sleep early.
"Yo, Jungkookie." Jimin smiled.
"Jimin?" Jungkook said as Jimin pushed past Jungkook and into the room.
"Yeah?" Jimin answered as he set his bag down and beginning to unpack his belongings.
"Aren't you supposed to be in the middle of your treatment?" Jungkook asked, he watched Jimin sigh and flop down onto his bed.
"Well, I'm gonna die anyway, why not spend my last moments with you?" Jungkook couldn't believe what he was hearing, but Jimin kept on smiling like nothing was wrong.
"Do you even hear yourself? There has to be some way to fix you!" Jimin sighed, his smile still plastered to his face and it's pissing Jungkook off more and more.
"Jungkookie..." Jimin looked up at Jungkook.
"Does 3% sound promising to you?"
"But there's still a chance...maybe..." Jungkook took a step towards Jimin, his confidence dropping.
"Can't you tell Jungkookie...?" Jimin smiled finally began to fade, turning into a frown.
"I'm giving up."
