Chapter 54 "All The Madness"

                                    

                                          
The next couple of days after the trial, Severide has had to work. While he's been working Shaylynn has been laying low back at their house with Leslie. Reporters are still wanting to talk to her. She thought things before the trial were bad, things have gotten even worse. When the Judge ordered the reporters out of the courtroom, unknown to him, one of the reporters stuck a voice activated recorder under the bench they were sitting on. When everyone was out of the courtroom, they snuck back in to retrieve the recorder and leaked everything that was said during her trial online. Things have gotten so bad that Butch and the other guys have taken a leave of absence from the Organization to be her security. Shaylynn isn't happy that the guys have done that, but they insisted. As Butch put it, "No one is going to get to our girl!"
                          
At the Firehouse, everyone is ready for their shift to end. This time it's their long weekend off.
Casey, Herrmann, and Severide are sitting at the table talking about what they're doing during their time off.
"Cindy has a very long "honey to do" list for me," Herrmann frowns, "that's what I'll be doing the whole time I'm off. What's up for you, Casey?"
"One of things that's planned is Gabby and I are taking Louie back to the Children's Museum, he loved it there," Casey looks at Severide, "you, Shaylynn, and Leslie should join us."
Severide looks at Casey and smiles, "Love to, but have to decline. We're headed out of state for a wedding."
Herrmann looks at Casey, smiles, and looks back at Severide, "Haven't you and Shaylynn had enough weddings?"
Severide laughs, "It's not for us. A friend of mine is getting married and I'm in the wedding. Thankfully Shaylynn is able to go with me. I wasn't going to tell him yes I'll be in your wedding because I didn't know what was happening with her. But Shaylynn wasn't about to let me miss out, contacted him and told him I would be there with or without her."
"Are you guys flying there?" Casey asks Severide.
"No. With all this madness still going on with the reporters, Butch and the other guys will be going with us. They now have this HUGE stretched Yukon. Shaylynn's very nervous about going because she doesn't want any reporters to find out where she is and disrupt the wedding and reception. But on the other hand, she's happy to be getting away for awhile. Maybe while we're gone, the craziness will go away and the reporters will find something else to go after." 
                          
Shift is over. People head home, others head to Molly's.
Before heading home, Severide decides to head to Molly's to have a beer with the guys.
When he arrives, Severide looks to see if there's any reporters stalking around. He doesn't see any, parks, and heads inside. 
As soon as he steps in the door he is ambushed by a few News crews.
Casey walks up to him, "I tried calling to warn you."
Severide looks at Casey, "It's alright! I put my phone in my bag, which is in the backseat."
"Mr. Severide, can I talk to you about your wife?" one of the reporters asks him.
Severide sighs, "I guess, as long as they're not stupid questions! If I feel a question is inappropriate, we're done!"

"Mrs. Severide use to be on Squad 3, will she returning after she has the baby?" the reporter asks.
Severide is sort of taken back by the question and doesn't know what to say. 
"I'm not sure. That's totally up to her" he tells the reporter.
The reporter can see the surprised look on Severide's face, "By the look on your face you've never heard what people call you two."
Severide looks at the reporter, "Other than husband and wife?"
The reporter laughs, "People have called you two the Superhero Couple."
Severide starts laughing at what the reporter tells him, "Why do people call us that for?"
"Not only do you two save other people, but you turn around and save each other like a Superhero Couple would do. People have told me they enjoyed watching you two working together, before and after Mrs. Severide joined Squad. You've heard of Storm Chasers, I guess you could call these people Squad 3 Chasers. They would listen to their scanners for any calls Squad 3 was called out on. Then would race to the place Squad 3 was going to and watch you and Shaylynn work. These Squad Chasers were a lot of couples who looked to you two as relationship goals. Both of you had each other's backs. Now a days, you really don't see that from couples. Shame, really!" the reporter tells him.
"I'll get my crew and the other one out of here. I know we ambushed you and I'm sure you want to get home. Just to warn you, there's probably a lot of reporters outside of your house."
The reporter makes good on what they say and get their crew and the other crew out of Molly's.
"That was an experience!" Severide tells the guys.
"The reporter ask you a lot about Shaylynn?" Herrmann asks him.
"No, I was only asked if Shaylynn would be coming back to Squad after she has the baby" he tells Herrmann.
