"Are you sure you can't come home tonight?" I pressed, hoping to change my boyfriend's mind.
"Sorry babe, I have to work late. If I somehow manage to get out early I'll come straight home, ok?" He responded over the phone.
I groaned. I have to spend yet another night alone in this old creaky house. "OK, love you."
"Love you too. Bye babe."
I placed my phone on the counter and looked at my surroundings. Our kitchen was a dimly lit mess. The facet dripped constantly and the tree outside the kitchen window cast a large shadow that resembled a person. I've mistaken it many times as an intruder. I honestly don't know why Jackson was drawn to this old house. He said it had potential, wanted to fix it up. Only one problem, he was hardly ever home.
I was stuck living in this creaky old house. No one and nothing to comfort me. Everything night I would get this feeling someone was watching me. Sometimes I would feel an odd sensation of, anger maybe? I can never seem to place it.
I frowned and slowly walked up the stairs to my bedroom. Lately, strange things have been happening. Scratching noises coming from the basement, doors shutting on their own.
At first I thought it was nothing, at least, that's what Jackson told me. Now it was starting to get scary, and predictable. Around midnight the scratching would begin and at three am the doors start to open and close. Although it was off and on, it still terrified me.
Whenever Jackson would be home nothing would happen, apart from some off and on thumping. Jackson dismissed this as the wind. I wasn't so sure.
I quickly brushed my teeth and tied my door closed. It prevented my door from opening and kept the noise level down. Hopefully tonight would be uneventful, however that was a stretch.

"Y/n, y/n." Someone whispered, waking me from my slumber
"Mmmhh, Jackson is that you." I answered groggily.
"Y/n!" Someone hissed, the voice sounded close. Maybe only a footstep away.
"Jackson I'm trying to sleep." I said, burrowing under the covers, desperate for sleep.
I felt a light breeze brush across my face. I forced myself to open my eyes, to my surprise my door was wide open.
"Oh my..." I quickly get up and turn on the light. "Hello?" I yelled into the hopefully empty house.
No answer. But I had heard someone, right? I wasn't dreaming was I?
Maybe I was dreaming. Just to be sure I wandered down stairs. It was the same as I'd left it. Out of the corner of my eye I saw movement and I whipped around. Emptyness greeted me. It was just a shadow.
I wiped my eyes and turn around, slamming into someone. I let out a scream and fell onto the ground.
"Relax babe it's just me. I got off early." Jackson laughed, helping me up.
"Did you... was that you ealier? Calling my name upstairs?" I asked anxiously.
He furrowed his eye brows. "No, I just came home. Like I walked in a minute ago."
"Oh." I sighed, wrapping my arms around my shoulders.
"Why, what's wrong?"
"Ah it's nothing, I just... I thought I heard my name."
"Yeah it was probably nothing." Jackson assured, wrapping his arm around me and guiding me upstairs.
When we reached our bedroom we were met by a closed door. "That's weird, I swore it was open when I went downstairs." I muttered, trying the knob. It opened easily.
I walked inside but before Jackson could it slammed shut. "Hey babe, um could you let me in. It's locked." He called from the other side.
I tried the door but it wouldn't budge. "It's stuck!" I yelled, starting to panic.
"Don't worry I'll be back in a minute to get some tools."
"No Jackson please! Please don't leave me!" I pleaded, my head leaning against the door. Tears starting to form.
"I'll be back in a minute!" He said, leaving me alone.
I sank to the floor, hugging my knees to my chest. After a moment I distinctly heard, breathing? It was coming from the corner of my room.
With a shaky hand I flicked my light switch, nothing. Not even a flicker.
The breathing seemed to get louder and a low growl eminated from under my bed. "JACKSON!" I screamed, pounding on my door. "JACKSON HELP ME!"
"Hold on y/n, it's ok." He reassured softly on the other side.
"IT'S NOT OK THERE'S SOMETHING IN HERE WITH ME!" I screeched, tears streaming down my face.
My heart was pounding through my chest and my ears were starting to ring from all the noise.
"What?" He called, but I could barely hear him over the growling.
"THERE'S SOMETH-" I was cut off by something grabbing my leg and dragging me under my bed.
My hair was being yanked in all directions and I could feel something scratching my back. "JACKSON!" My voice was muffled by an invisible hand covering my mouth. It tasted like tar.
The pain intensified, traveling to my leg and I could feel a sticky substance dripping down my head. I struggled to escape against my invisible foe but failed miserably.
Just as I thought this was the end, Jackson dragged my kicking and screaming body out from underneath the bed. "Shh it's ok, you're ok."
He checked under the bed only to come up empty handed. "What the hell..."
I started to sob again and Jackson turned his attention to me. I desperately clung to his body, burying my face in his chest.
After a few minutes of crying Jackson looked me over. From his expression I'd say I didn't look pretty.
He lifted me up and carried me to the bathroom, carefully pulling my shirt to reveal three long scratches down my back. They weren't bleeding very heavily, however the bite mark on my leg was bleeding a little more rapidly.
Jackson quickly cleaned me up as I was still unable to do anything but shake. "OK I'm going to get you a glass of water."
"P-please don't leave me, please." I cried, grabbing his wrist.
"OK I wont." Jackson said, wrapping his arms around me once more.
"C-can we leave?" I begged, not wanting to stay here a minute longer than necessary.
"Yeah, let's go." He agreed, leading me downstairs.
Jackson grabbed our coats and his bag then grabbed my hand, pulling me to the door. He opened it quickly, running into the cold night air. Before I could breath a sigh of relief I was yanked away from Jackson and into the house. The heavy wooden door slammed shut, preventing me from reaching my boyfriend.
"JACKSON!" I screamed again.
His reply was muffled and I couldn't hear much over my screaming. I felt a cold sensation run through my body and I couldn't help but shiver.
"You're mine now." A voice cackled from behind me.
Then darkness consumed me.
