You sit at the desk, fiddling with the note. ‘I’m such an idiot.’
‘We should return the favor, bake him cookies!’
‘Are you insane? Who would do that? He’ll think they’re poisoned or drugged’ the other voice laughs a bit, which scares you. ‘I’m done talking to you…’
‘But, come on! You don’t g-‘
“I’m done.” You state loudly. A knock comes from the wall, that wall, and you quickly cover your mouth.
“S-sorry, neighbors…” You say nervously, but a smile rises at your quick thinking. A small, muffled chuckle is heard in return. Feeling your face heat up, you can’t decide whether to be proud you made the Markiplier laugh, or devastated for imitating him.
You make your way to your bedroom, tired from the events from earlier, ‘Geez, how much can happen in one day?’ You lie down and snuggle against your pillows, gradually drifting off.
Next Day
You awake and suddenly realize it wasn’t to an alarm. 10 a.m.
“Shit! I’m late!” You frantically run around to get ready in record time.
Twenty minutes later, you are standing by the front door, making sure you did all you could, ‘hair, teeth, breakfast, lunch, socks, bag… yep, yep, check, yep.’ You put on your shoes and swing the door open. Thump.
“Ow.”
Your eyes widen as you freeze in place, quickly running through what this situation should call for. ‘Should I close the door and leave or go back inside…?’
‘No concern for our dear Mark?’
‘It may not even be him’
‘If the voice wasn’t proof enough, then look.’ You face the door between the two of you and move it slightly. Brushing himself off and then standing up, he looks at you and smiles the same smile in his videos. You grip onto the door slightly, not wanting to crumple at the sight.
“So,” he begins, “swinging doors open your thing?” He rubs his arm, but holds eye contact.
You feel your face get hot, ‘He’s expecting a reply!’
“Sorry, I-I… work… I’m l-late, I h-have to go.” You quickly close your door, lock it, and turn to leave off. When you reach the stairwell, you look back as you descend, but he’s gone.
