Peyton's birthday is coming up and she still doesn't know what she wants. She said she wants to have her party at the ice rink, but she doesn't know how to skate. I don't know if she'll enjoy it.
Beca came downstairs this morning and told me Peyton was still sleeping.
"So Peyton wants to have an ice skating party." I said to Beca.
"She ice skates?" Beca asked.
"No." I said.
"Why don't I get her lessons for her birthday? She obviously wants to start ice skating." Beca said.
Beca was onto something.
"Do you skate?" I asked Beca.
"No." she laughed.
"You skate!" I said. I could tell when she was lying.
"No! I don't." She said and began to blush.
"Did you tell Peyton? She wants to be like you!" I said.
"Fine, I do skate." Beca confessed.
"So it wasn't that the rink has better nachos, it was that you had practice!" I said. She used to tell me she was going to the rink for nachos, which I know was stupid to believe, but she is a little weird.
"Yeah, but the rink does have pretty good nachos." She said.
"We should take Peyton ice skating!" I said.
"Sure." She said.
When Peyton woke up we told her the play for the day and she seemed excited.
We drove to the rink and Beca went inside with Peyton while I parked the car.
When I got in I saw Peyton sitting in the bleachers with her foot in Beca's lap. I snuck a picture for my Instagram before I said hi.
"Here." Beca said handing me a wristband.
"We all get purple bracelets! Look I have one too Mommy!" Peyton said and pointed to her wrist.
"I got you skates." Beca said.
"Thanks." I said.
I sat down next to Peyton and tied my skates. In my head I tried to picture Beca as a figure skater. It was almost impossible. She always wore jeans and dark clothing, I couldn't picture her in a small figure skating dress.
We all had our skates on and we got on the ice. Beca held Peyton's hands and skated backwards pulling Peyton.
"Aww look at you two!" I said.
"Shut up." Beca said. She didn't think of herself as a sweet person.
We skated around for a while, I only fell twice. Beca showed us some of her favorite moves. She was pretty talented.
"Why didn't you tell me you skated?" I asked Beca.
"Why didn't you tell me you had a daughter? Hint, they have the same answer." She shot back.
"I find figure skating very interesting." I said.
"Really?" Beca said.
"Yeah!" I said.
"Nobody believes that I figure skate." She said.
"Well it is hard to picture you in a figure skating dress." I said and giggled.
"Want to see some pictures?" She asked.
"I guess so." I replied.
She showed me pictures on her phone of her in a black dress, wearing a gold medal around her neck, and holding a trophy.
"Wow!" I said.
"I know, I still can't believe I won that competition." She said.
"I can." I said and looked at her.
"Thanks." She said.
