It had been twenty years since college. Beca had moved to California to become a music producer, but her career never took off. She was living in a small apartment now in LA, hoping eventually she would become a music producer.
Chloe was living in LA as well. Chloe wanted to become a singer. Her nodes, however, became worse as the years went on. She had a daughter, Maria, and the two of them lived in an apartment.
Little did they know it, but Beca and Chloe lived in the same state, in the same city and even in the same apartment building. They hadn't seen each other yet because they were on different floors.
Maria and Chloe were coming home from breakfast one morning.
"Maria, can you go get the mail please?" Chloe asked Maria.
"Sure." Maria said and went to the mail room she walked in and bumped into a small woman.
"I'm so sorry." Maria said. The woman had spilled her coffee all over her mail and her shirt.
The woman looked up at Maria, who was much taller.
Beca had coffee all over her shirt, and it burned. When she saw who had bumped into her, she was stunned. The girl looked sixteen or seventeen and looked exactly like Chloe Beale from college. It was pathetic, but Beca still remembered every little feature about Chloe. Even this girl's voice sounded like Chloe's.
"Are you ok?" Maria asked Beca.
"Yeah. I'm fine." Beca replied.
"How about you come up to my mom and I's apartment and we can make you more coffee." Maria said.
Beca didn't usually go to strangers' houses, but there was something about this girl that made her feel comfortable.
"That'd be great, thank you." Beca said.
"I'm Maria, by the way." Maria said.
"Beca." Beca said.
"I just have to grab our mail, then we can go upstairs." Maria said.
Maria grabbed the mail and led Beca out of the mailroom. Chloe was looking out the window.
"Mom, can Beca come up to our apartment for coffee?" Maria asked.
"Beca?" Chloe said and turned her head to face Maria and her college crush, Beca Mitchell.
"Chloe!?" Beca yelled.
Chloe smiled before running towards Beca and engulfing her in a hug.
"I'm going to guess you know each other." Maria said giggling.
"Yes! Remember the stories I told you about Beca from college? Well this is her!" Chloe said.
"So, this is your daughter?" Beca asked.
"Yep!" Chloe said.
"She looks just like you. How old are you?" Beca asked Maria.
"Sixteen." Maria said.
"Wow now I feel old." Beca said.
"Aww Becs, you're still three years younger than me." Chloe joked.
"So, I was promised coffee." Beca said.
"Alright, let's go!" Chloe said and then went upstairs for coffee.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
