Shade was fighting on as much as he could against the hordes of enemies that were approaching him. The orange shine of the Pumpkin Moon made it a little harder to see what he was actually doing, but he otherwise didn't have too much of a problem.
Sapphire stood by his side, helping him to the best of her abilities, taking full advantage of her Magical Harp. She always like magic and music, so she created a weapon that mixed the two.
The many Scarecrows and Splinterlings that charged at them were persistent - as soon as one died, more took its place.
Pumpking also kept up with his own onslaught, while staying away from the two, ensuring his survival. He had no idea where his most powerful asset went, but he felt it was for the army's own good.
The Headless Horsemen charged towards the two, forcing them to take to the skies, making them vulnerable to Pumpking's attacks.
They kept their defense steady, while also avoiding the Flaming Scythes Pumpking was throwing at them. After a little while, they focused on Pumpking himself.
That's when Sapphire took a Flaming Scythe to the chest, getting hurt badly.
Shade noticed this, and did everything he could to finish off the opponent.

As dawn broke, Pumpking forced his army to retreat, leaving Shade to tend to Sapphire's injuries alone. He quickly had Sapphire drink a Healing Potion, which mostly helped, but she was still hurt.
He picked her up carefully, and brought her inside, setting her down on her own bed.
"I'm so sorry..." There was no way Shade was going to forgive himself for this - he had done enough damage already, but now that his one friend was hurt, he couldn't ever forgive himself now.
"Shade..." Sapphire said weakly, "It's fine... I'll be fine... I just need... to rest..."
Shade reluctantly left the room, closing the door. He climbed through the many hallways and caverns of the lair, until he came across the room his guests were in.
He thought for a while, before deciding to check on them. He opened the door quietly and slowly, but only a crack. When he looked in, he saw two of his three guests - the girl and the boy. They were both asleep, as expected.
Shade then noticed the remains of Mourning Wood in the middle of the room.
Shade decided that seeing Mourning Wood's corpse was enough for him. He quietly closed the door, and climbed through more hallways until he was outside.
He looked around for a bit, before deciding to try to clear his thoughts. Seeing the secondary of the Pumpkin Moon Army was surprising enough to him, but the fact that the two managed to kill him was mind-blowing to Shade.

Wither woke up in the middle of the day. The room was void of life besides himself, implying that Night and Zale had already woken up.
He crawled out of the bed slowly, then made his way outside, where Shade was waiting for him.
Wither was surprised to see him, but Shade seemed angry about something.
"So," he said with an angry tone in his voice, "that's how it is, then? You two decide to kill the Pumpking's best unit without me?"
Shade drew his Excalibur - this startled Wither badly - and put it up to the Elite's neck.
"I wanted to have the glory of killing him myself. I knew I was able to."
The sword cut into Wither's neck a little.
"But then you three came along, and ruined it!"
Wither was scared half to death - he couldn't move, otherwise he risked his throat being sliced open.
"I knew you three were up to something..."
Wither tried to speak, but the pain from the sword kept him from doing so.
"And now, I'm going to put an end to your life..."
The sword cut in deeper. Wither knew this was it - he wasn't getting out of this one.
"Any last words, kid?"
Despite the extreme pain he was feeling, he knew he had to figure out a way to get away from Shade, and fast.
The sword cut in even deeper.
"Last chance..."
Wither used up whatever energy he had left to pull off a trick he had learned from Zale.
"You're done."
The sword ripped through Wither's neck, lopping his head off. The corpse disappeared into smoke.
"W-What?!"

Wither had no idea where he was. All he knew was that he was away from Shade. Unfortunately, the sword had cut in deep enough for the wound to be fatal if he didn't do anything about it. Even worse, there was nothing Wither could do - he had no clue of where he was, and he didn't have the energy to do anything. He stayed laying down on the apparent couch he just-so-happened to have teleported onto.
Pretty soon, he heard panicked footsteps outside. The door swung open, and two shadowy figures stepped inside, closing the door behind them. They looked over at Wither, and one of them screamed.
The one that screamed ran up to him. Wither could see now that it was Night, and assumed the other was Zale.
Zale walked around a bit, before going into another room.
Night quickly tried to tend to Wither's neck, ending up using a Greater Healing Potion to try to help him.
His neck felt a lot better, but the cut barely healed at all, forcing Night to give him a Regeneration Potion.

That night, Wither was woken up by a light shaking. The three had decided to stay in the abandoned little hut.
Night was knelt down next to him.
"You okay?" she asked worriedly.
"Y-Yeah, I think so..."
Night seemed relieved. She turned to walk away, but stopped before she did.
"W-What's wrong?"
Night seemed a bit nervous. "Nothing..."
She then walked off into her own bedroom.
