Before she could enjoy those warm summer days in Minnesota she first had to survive this battle.

Angela looked down at the timer on her computer display and clenched her hand around her throttle, counting down the seconds until she would be rushing into the middle of the fray. When the timer hit two minutes she quickly opened up a wide area channel that all personnel, regardless of their military affiliation, would be able to hear. It was finally time to get things started.

"This is Black Cat to all call signs: Begin combat operations!"

The plan was for artillery to open up on the enemy horde two minutes before first contact was made, allowing them to soften them up and cut down on some of the sheer numbers the UNE's were throwing at them. Hitting a UNE horde travelling at blistering speeds was tough though, and artillery was rarely effective at taking the enemy out; but it should still be able to take a few stragglers out and maybe even weaken them enough so that it won't be that big of a deal in close quarters combat. At least that's what Angela hoped.

The sound of thundering bursts in the distance announced that the artillery in the back had opened up and Angela kept her filters open, allowing the roar to encourage her. She had heard the heavy artillery being fired before back in her academy days, but never like this. The sound of one going off at a time as the mechanized corps trained had nothing on the sound produced from more than a dozen of the biggest cannons on earth being fired all at once.

The fact that it was nearly constant for an entire minute and a half was just as amazing and Angela really had to hand it to the soldiers manning the guns; they worked fast and effectively and must have fired more than a hundred rounds down range before their window was over. If even ten percent of those shots hit the enemy they should be looking good.

"Begin bomb runs now, War Dogs!" she called out through her microphone and they stepped into the second phase of the plan.

By this point the UNE horde had gotten close enough to the firing line that the Behemoths had eyes on and Michelle, being the crafty person that she was, had managed to isolate a feed from Commander Robert's machine and patch it through to them.

The black horde came over the horizon and blocked out the smoke that had been rising in the back ground for all the charred and destroyed bodies. As expected the massive Tanks were at the front and their horns could barely be seen through the darkness, but that's not what really had Angela nervous. She hated that they still didn't know what else was in the pack and the fact that she had just sent in five American jets to bomb them wasn't sitting too well with her. If something happened it was all on her head.

"War Dog One has the ball! Commencing bombing run on enemy position! Here we go, boys!" the flight leader called out and the roar of jets passing overhead roared through Angela's speakers and made her feel alive.

A moment later the first sleek and grey jet appeared on the video feed as it streaked across the UNE horde and released the high explosive bomb on their heads. In an instant the field before Red Company was engulfed in an earth shaking explosion that reached high into the sky, sending chunks of land and UNE flying in all directions in a shower of orange and black.
