No, I will face the night with vigilance. I will be triumphant in every action required. I will not tremble at the fear of darkness, nor of the fear of the unknown. I will pursue it with courage.

I exit the dormitory and enter the common room. No one speaks to me, which I am glad of. I wonder if Professor Dumbledore asked them not to, or if they did it on their own. Either way, I'm glad I can just find Meghan in peace.

"Looking for Meghan?" asks Payton, smiling sympathetically.

"Yeah," I say, wishing I could smile back. I'm starting to feel weak again.

"I'll go get her, I think she's still in our dormitory."

I nod, and Payton walks off. I close my eyes, and it's not but a minute later that I feel Meghan's arms around me.

"Can I talk to you?" I whisper in her ear.

She nods and I lead her to my dormitory. She closes the door behind us, and we sit on my bed.

"I'm nervous," I say simply.

"As you should be," she says.

I gulp.

"I don't know if I can do this," my voice trembles. I don't know why, but voicing my fears seems to help.

"Of course you can," says Meghan softly, but with certainty in her voice.

"How do you know?" I whisper. "I don't know what's waiting out there for me."

"Whatever is waiting out there for you, you are ready for!" says Meghan, her eyes focused strongly on me. I don't know if she's being sincere, or speaking from fear. "You are an extraordinary wizard, Cedric. I believe in you, and you need to believe in yourself! We're all counting on you!"

She leans her  head on my shoulder. "I- I didn't mean it like that, now you probably feel all pressured. I'm sorry..."

Her hand finds mine, and she rubs it softly.

She's absolutely right. People are counting on me. There's no time to be nervous. What happened to my game face? I need it back. I need to be strong, and show everyone just how strong I can be. I know I can do this, so why am I even doubting myself for a moment?

"You're right. I can do this."

Meghan looks up at me, and there is such happiness in her beautiful face, that I can't stop a smile from creeping onto my own.

"That's the spirit!" she says, regaining the spunky personality that I love so much. "Now let's go meet your parents so I can woo them."

"My dad'll be easy. Just tell him how great I am and he'll love you forever," I say with a laugh. My smile does not return.
