They probably should have fixed the floodlight when they noticed it was slightly loose but there wasn't even an hour left until pack up and they thought it would last that long at least.  Afterwards, they regret not fixing it or making do without it. It's not like they even really needed the thing, there was enough lighting that they could've managed to shoot the scene without the health hazard that is a broken floodlight.

The scene is almost done when the light apparently decides it can't hold out any longer. There is an ominous creaking sound that serves as a warning just seconds before the thing falls. Had it not been for the few seconds warning, the hero of the film would have been crushed by the falling object. His onscreen Dulhania, who also happens to be his offscreen girlfriend,  sees the light falling and him trying to get away from it. She's terrified, doesn't know if he can move fast enough to get out the way but her fear has her frozen in place so she can't go to help him. He trips, over what he's not sure, and hits the ground at the same time the light does, about three inches away from him.

Panic overcomes Alia who doesn't realise that the light didn't actually hit him. Tears cloud her vision and she begins to hyperventilate, unable to comprehend what's going on. Her heart is going crazy as her brain tries to figure out what's happening.

While Alia is in the middle of a panic attack, Sahil and Shashank rush to help Varun to his feet. He brushes them off when they ask if he's okay, not even bothering to respond because all his attention is focused on Alia and getting to her so he can calm her down. She's crying and screaming, calling for him and pleading for this not to be real, praying for it to be a nightmare because she didn't see anything past the light falling, doesn't realise that he's fine.

The set seems to be much bigger than it was a few minutes ago as Varun makes his way across it to his girlfriend. 'Alu, calm down.' he tells her when he's in front of her, hands coming up to rest on her shoulders. She doesn't calm down, the tears keep flowing and her brain's still a mess, unable to process what she's seeing and accept that he's there in front to her. 'Alia, it's okay. Look, I'm here, the light missed, I'm fine.' She's still panicking, still not recognizing that he's stood there, perfectly fine. He keeps repeating himself, trying to get her to actually see him but it's not working, she's staring right at him but the tears are still running and her brain is refusing to accept the fact that he's really there. 'Baby, it's okay,' he says, shaking her gently to try and snap her out of her panic attack. 'I'm okay, jaanu, I'm here, everything's fine.' The tears finally slow down and she stares at him blankly for a minute before the effects of the stress and panic of the past few minutes catch up to her and it's too much for her to cope with. Her mind needs to shut down so her body does the logical thing and uses its natural defense mechanism. She faints and Varun just about manages to catch her before she hits the ground.

Surprisingly, Varun is the only one who manages to remain calm. Considering his girlfriend just fainted in his arms, he should not be so calm but, possibly because this is not the first time Alia has passed out on him, he doesn't panic. He is the one who says they need to get her medical attention and the one who is assuring everyone else that Alia will be fine.

He speaks to the doctors and they tell him she was just overwhelmed by worry and panic, that she needs rest and she'll be fine. After relaying the message to Shashank, Varun takes Alia back to the hotel and up to her room, laying her on the bed and sitting beside her as he waits for her to wake up.

He's not entirely sure how long it's been since she passed out when she starts to stir. Somehow he'd ended up laying down beside her at some point, holding her hand as he waits for her to wake, and that is how he is when she begins to mumble in her sleep. At first, the words are indiscernible, she's muttering something but, no matter how hard he strains to hear it, he can't make out what she's saying.
