A small smiled found it's way onto your face as you saw your boyfriend of five years walk onto the pitch alongside his teammates. It was the second leg of the Champions league qualifiers and he was finally getting some play time, but you knew exactly that this would be his last game for Manchester City and it made you deeply sad that the only reason for this was that his new coach, Pep, somehow didn't like him at all. You couldn't understand why Pep wanted to transfer him so badly because Joe had been City's number 1 for years.
Your smile grew slightly as your boyfriend blew you a kiss before he walked into the tunnel again to get ready for the line up. You looked around the stadium and sighed; you didn't know where your journey with Joe would go to, but you where definitely going to miss Manchester a lot because you've grown to love this city and especially grown to love seeing Joe play in this stadium; you probably had spent half of the last five years in here.
The whistle of the referee pulled you out of your thoughts and you quickly turned your attention to the game; you knew that this game wouldn't be too exciting since City had won the first leg 5-0, but you wanted to enjoy seeing your boyfriend playing for City one last time before he would either be sold or go somewhere on loan. For a moment you turned to look at Pep and shook your head slightly, wondering why all of this was happening. Again your thoughts were interrupted and the cause of this made tears rush down your cheeks as you stood up and chanted "Stand up if you love Joe Hart." along the fans. You looked around and saw that nearly the whole stadium was standing and as you looked at Joe again you saw that he was tearing up as well.
The game ended much too soon and after the referee blew the whistle, the score was 1-0 for City. The fans were still chanting and you could see tears in your boyfriends eyes as he walked around the pitch and applauded with the fans. Tears were still rolling down your cheeks, too as you stood up with a proud smile on your face and smoothed out your 'Hart' jersey. You couldn't believe that this really was his last game for City and you were slightly nervous about your future. You just hoped that Joe would take you with him wherever he wanted to go. As you looked for the goalkeeper again you saw him giving you a sign to come down onto the pitch. As you quickly made your way down a few of the other player's wives and girlfriends came up to you to hug you. "We're going to miss you so much." and "It's so sad that you both will leave." was what they all said to you and you had to admit that you were really going to miss watching City's games together with them.
After talking to everybody for a while you finally were able to walk onto the pitch because you wanted nothing more than to hug Joe. "Hey, love." He said as you ran up to him and threw your arms around him. "I love you." You whispered into his ear and just stayed in his embrace. "You played amazing." You added, making him chuckle slightly. "I'm going to miss this." He stated as you stepped back and looked into his eyes. "To play in front of this incredible fans." He explained and softly put a strand of hair behind your ear. "I've played here for so long." He continued, but you stopped him by softly pressing your lips to his. "We will be fine." You ensured him and took his hand. "I don't want to leave." He mumbled and looked around the stadium to see that a lot of fans were still there holding up signs for him. "I know, but it's not forever. We'll come back one day." You replied and looked around, too.
"But I'm going to miss this, too, especially the stadium." You added and took in the ambiance one more time. "Yeah, but before we leave I need to do one last thing." Joe said, making you furrow your eyebrows in confusion. "What do you..." You started, but were cut off because he was getting down on one knee and softly took your hand. "Y/F/N, I love you with all my heart. I am truly, madly and deeply in love with you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know that this is a hard time for us right now, but I'm sure that everything will get better again and my love for you grows every single day. You are always there for me, no matter what and I want to be there for you the rest of my life, too. Today was my last game for Manchester City and I couldn't imagine a better place to do this than the stadium we both have spend so much time in.
I promise you that I will always give my best to make you happy and to protect you, wherever we go. So will you please make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" Joe said and his voice slightly broke at the end as he took a box out of his pocket and opened it to reveal a shining diamond ring. Tears were rolling down your cheeks again as you nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes, there's nothing that would make me happier." You replied as Joe quickly stood up and softly slipped the ring onto your finger before wrapping his arms around you and kissing you softly. As you two broke apart you heard the whole stadium cheer and all the fans were standing again.
"This is perfect." You stated and Joe waved at the fans one last time before walking off the pitch, tightly holding your hand in his and smiling brightly.
