Chapter Thirteen

Jennifer's POV

"Over my dead body." Benny said, his grip tightening on the bat.

Scotty tried to hold my hand but I just crossed my arms.

"You'll never get her! Not in a million years." Scotty growled.

"Yeah! In fact, we'll take you on right here, right now!"

"We play on a real diamond Porter! You ain't good enough to lick the dirt off our cleats."

"Watch it jerk!"

"Shut up idiot."

"You're the idiot." I mumbled in response to Phillips comment.

"Moron!"

"Scab eater!"

"Butt sniffer!"

"Pus licker!"

"Fart smeller!"

"You eat dog crap for breakfast, geek!"

"You mix your Wheaties with your mamas toe jam!"

"YEAH!" All of the guys yelled. I just laughed.

"You bob for apples in the toilet, and you like it!"

"YOU PLAY BALL LIKE A GIRL!"

I froze and turned to face Ham who was already looking at me.

"No offense Jenny."

I smiled and stared at Phillips.

"What did you say?" Phillips asked.

"You heard him." I growled.

"Tomorrow, noon. Our field. Be there."

"COUNT ON IT!" I screamed. I quickly piped down and Benny interlocked our fingers.

Phillips walked towards me and grabbed my face and kissed me. I struggled to get away and eventually wiggled my way out of Phillip's grip.

"Come on princess, you know you were enjoying that." Phillips said, smirking. He grabbed the sleeve of my shirt.

Benny stepped in front of me, separating Phillips and I. Breaking Phillips grip on my sleeve.

I stared at Benny's tensed back.

I heard a thump and looked over Benny's shoulder. I saw Phillips on the ground. Benny had punched him in his face, making him stumble backwards and fall far and hard.

"Go away or it will become even worse." Benny growled.

Phillips got up and stepped towards Benny.

"Be there tomorrow Rodriguez." Phillips growled back before running off.

After Phillips left, we all stood there in shock. I plopped onto the seats.

"Well, there's no way we'll beat them." I mumbled.

"Yeah we can!" Scotty said.

"How?" I asked.

"Kenny isn't going to be able to play tomorrow. With your pitches and our hits, we can smoke them."

I smiled.

"Ham, we got a lot of pitching codes to learn." I said. I grabbed my glove and we all took our positions.
