A few tears started to form in my eyes as I watched Neymar's ball going into the goal, meaning that Germany has lost the final. The whole stadium immediately cheered and I saw people around me hugging each other with tears of happiness streaming down their cheeks. I looked down onto the pitch and searched for my boyfriend, Max. I found him sitting on the gras with his head in his hands as Sven Bender placed a hand on his shoulder. I waited a bit before slowly going down onto the pitch to congratulate the boys on winning the silver medal and hopefully I would be able to cheer them up.
I immediately walked towards Max and sat down beside him and Sven. "You played amazing guys. I know that you gave everything to win and after all you won silver." I said and softly ran my hand through Max' hair. "Thank you." Sven said and leaned towards Max to whisper something in his ear. "You can still do it." I heard him say before he stood up and left to try cheering up his other teammates. "I failed." Max said after a while of silence, while he still looked at the ground. "You didn't fail, Max. You played the best you could for over 120 minutes and it was just bad luck that you guys didn't win. You would have deserved it so much, but sometimes you just don't have enough luck, that's how life is. You did everything you could, all of you guys did." I stated, but he just shrugged his shoulders. "We still lost." He said and stood up before stretching his hand out to help me standing up.
"The presentation ceremony starts now." He said and started to walk away, but I quickly grabbed his arm to stop him. "I love you." I whispered and quickly kissed him before walking to the side of the pitch to watch the boys get their silver medals, while I couldn't stop to think about Sven's words. What did he mean? I quickly shook my head to forget about that and concentrated on the ceremony. After the boys got their medals, they made some pictures and I couldn't help, but smile at the sight of Max holding his best friends jersey.
After some minutes the guys were done taking photos and I quickly congratulated and hugged all of them. As I hugged Sven his words came into my mind again. "What did you mean earlier?" I asked and he looked confused at first, but then he slightly smiled as he understood what I mean. "You'll see, I hope." He replied, confusing me even more, but I decided to not ask anymore."Hey, baby." Max said as he walked towards me and wrapped an arm around my waist, still having a sad look on your face. "I'm sorry." He said quietly, making me shake my head. "Don't be, Max. It's not your fault." I replied and wrapped my arms around him in a tight hug. "But I disappointed you." He explained, but I shook my head again. "You didn't disappoint me at all, Max. I'm so incredibly proud of the whole team and especially of you. You tried everything you could and I know that you gave your all for the team. You guys didn't lose gold, you won silver and you can be absolutely proud of you just like I am." I replied and softly kissed his cheek. "Really?" He asked and I saw his eyes lighting up slightly.
"Yes, you could have never disappointed me. I love you, Max and nothing will ever change that" I stated, making him smile brightly. "Sven!" He called out and made a sign with his hands, which made Sven smile brightly, too as he ran towards us and quickly handed Max something. "Good luck." He said and walked away, confusing me again. As I was about to ask Max what that was about he got down on one knee and smiled up at me. "I planned to do this with a gold medal, but I guess I can't change that now." He said, chuckling lightly and opining that box that Sven has handed him to reveal an absolutely beautiful diamond ring. "Max..." I whispered as tears were slowly streaming down my cheeks.
"First I want to say that I love you so incredibly much and I'm more than sure that you are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I know that we're both still young, but we already went through so much together, love and I can't wait to experience even more than you. You and I, we are just made for each other, perfect for each other and I still can't believe how I was so lucky to meet you all those years ago. You made me fall in love with you the first time you looked into my eyes and I'm so happy that you said 'yes' to going out with me and 'yes' to be my girlfriend and now I just need you to say 'yes' one more time. I love you so much, Y/F/N, so will you please marry me and do me the honor of becoming Mrs.Meyer?" Max said, his voice slightly breaking at the end and a few tears rolling down his cheeks, but that was nothing compared to the hundreds of tears that we streaming down my cheeks. "Yes, a million times yes, Maximilian Meyer." I replied and immediately jumped into Max' arms as he stood up and slipped the ring onto my finger. "I love you so much." I whispered into his ear as he softly lifted me off the ground to twirl me around before pressing his lips to mine in a soft kiss with a bright smile on his face.
