After the school day had ended, Light and I decided to head to the mall to study by the fountain or at the food court. In the distance, we could hear some teens talking about how there were 23 more deaths today and how it was Kira. Light must've noticed my worried expression so he grabbed my attention by making a dumb face. I laughed and popped him with my fork. "Why do you have to be so smart yet so dumb at the same time Yagami?" I laughed and turned a page in the book. Light chuckled and also turned a page. "Because you love it and I know you do. Besides, what would you do without my dumb faces?" He asked with a hint of humor. I giggled and shook my head. "I really don't know."

"Damn, look at the time. I really gotta get home. Cmon May, get your stuff." Light quickly stood up and began cleaning up our stuff. "Huh? But it's only just now 8:00 Light. My curfew is a little past 10:00, remember? What's going on with you?" I asked in confusion. Light sighed and chuckled nervously. "May, we really need to get back. You can hang out at my place until 10 again if you want. I'm just ready to get back so let's go." He helped me up and grabbed my things.

The bus ride home wasn't awkward but it was damn sure annoying. Every time he seemed like he was ignoring me and I was on the edge of being upset, Light would suddenly be affectionate. What is he up to? Is he stalling me? Does he want to break up with me? Did I do something wrong? Is he cheating on me?! "Would you stop with that worrysome expression May? What's going on in that overactive head of yours? A study shows that a lot of times the female brain can convince itself that her partner is up to no good." He smirked at me.

Damn he's too smart for his own good!

"Pshhh don't be stupid! I don't think you're cheating on me!" As soon as I said this, Light burst out into laughter. "Technically, I never said you did. You just said that on your own. It proves that you really think I'm up to something." He smirked and rubbed my cheek gently. "Cmon May, give me some credit. I know sometimes we argue but I'm not a total piece of crap. I'd never do anything to hurt the woman I love now stop with this worry. Entrance exams are getting closer and I also get more serious when a big test comes up. It's just the type of guy I am." Light explained to me. I sighed, placed my head on his shoulder, and let him stroke through my dark locks. "May, I love you."

And just like that, he was off the hook.

"Now, be quiet coming inside. Mom has a little cold so everyone went to sleep early tonight. My dad is still at the station working on the Kira case." He shushed me and quietly opened the door to the house. We silently went up to his room and placed our things down quietly. Light turned his Tv on and started writing in his note book again. By this time, I figured he was working on a school project so I dismissed it. The only thing that truly bothered me was as the news commentators broadcast some criminals that were arrested this week, I knew they'd all be dead by tomorrow. When will all the senseless killings stop? Doesn't Kira know, two wrongs don't make a right.

So soon as the night began for me, that it was near its ending. Light was now laying in his bed with me and my head was on his chest. I could hear his soft heart beat and his shallow breath. He was truly comfortable and so was I. It's already 9:50 and it'd be difficult when I had to head home without him. "Damn it, why can't every night be like this? Why can't every day be like this too?" He chuckled and rubbed my back soothingly. "I really want to live with you someday. That way we don't have to say 'goodbye' at night. Then all well have to say is 'goodnight' instead." Light sighed sadly.

9:51..."Will we be married someday?" I asked him quietly. He laughed softly and sat up to look at me. "Of course we will." He smiled brightly at the thought. 9:52..."Light I was wondering something." I felt my face heat up with the question I was about to ask. "What is it, May?" Light furrowed his brows. I took in a deep breath and let it out. 9:53..."When we get married, will we give ourselves to each other?" At this point my face was on fire. Light simply pulled me closely and hugged me tightly. 9:54... "Absolutely. I'll be waiting and I don't care how long it takes. I just want your love for now. Besides, I can settle on kisses until then. Speaking of which, can I have my goodbye kiss?" His lips curved upward into a smile as he waited on my answer. I laughed quietly and nodded, leaning closer to him by the second. 9:55... My lips pressed to his and it set me on fire. I knew the longer I stayed, the more heated the kiss would be so I pulled away just as Light squeezed my hip roughly. We both gasped for air and he looked at me with shining eyes. "May, I'll love you for the rest of our lives." 9:56... "I'll love you too Light."

With that, we were satisfied. He helped me gather my stuff and we exited the house quietly. Minutes ticked by on the way to my house, but we also walked slow because we didn't want to part with each other. 9:57, 9:58, 9:59... "I'll catch you tomorrow. I have a night class so you could meet me but I don't want you walking by yourself at night." Light looked worried. I sighed and hugged him tightly. "I'll be fine Light. I'll see you tomorrow." 10:00... I opened the door to see my dad and two men on the couch next to him.
