I pet Asteroid as I passed his pen. He's a big softy out of the ring. I went and got dressed then was ready on deck. Jess came up beside me. "Good luck out there." I told him. "Don't need luck. I never buck off." He said then kissed my cheek.
Yesterday when he kissed me at that restaurant that was the first time he's ever done that. I was surprised that he did it. After about half the riders went Frank came limping out.
"Nicky your in." I hurried in the ring. The bull up was Pearl Harbor ranked fourth in the world. Jess was riding him. I got ready for it. The gate opened and the bull roared out.
Eight seconds later Jess was off the bull. It went through the gate and that's almost how it went all night. When it was over I got out of my gear and back into my jeans and shirt.
I stuffed them in my duffle and carried it out. Tiredness filled my body. I waited for Jess. When he came out I walked out to the truck ahead of him.
He unlocked the truck ahead of me. I threw my bag in and got in. I buckled up and fell asleep against the window.
"Nicky. Come on let's get inside." I barely heard him say that. I felt him unbuckle me and lift me out of the seat. I don't remember anything.
Jess' POV I could tell she would fall asleep at anytime. When I got in she was out cold. I drove to the motel and got out. She was still asleep. I went around to her side and opened the door. "Nicky. Come on let's get inside."
She never moved. I unbuckled her seatbelt and carried her into the room. I set her on the bed and took her boots off. I got a shower then got into bed next to her.
Nine years ago age 9 "Higher Nash, higher!" I yelled as Nash pushed me on the swing. He pushed me higher. "Higher!" My brother pushed me higher.
Nash got onto the swing next to me and swung with me. We were playing at the park. Our parents dropped us off and took off. They'd always come back for us after an hour or so.
I jumped off the swing and ran over to the merry go round. Nash spun me around then got on. We laughed and played until our parents came and got us. They were smiling and enjoyed us around them.
Present day Nicky's POV I got out of bed at about three thirty in the evening and got a quick shower. I put my clothes on and stepped out of the bathroom. Jess was no where.
I went over to the door and heard him talking. "Yes mom I'm going to be home before going to Billings." It's sweet that he talks to his family. I backed away from the window and sat down on the bed.
He came in and saw me. "Ready to go?" I nodded.

The bull charged at me. He grabbed me up between his horns and pitched me over his head. I landed hard on my knees as he went through the gate.
Thank you that was the last bull of the night. Man my knees hurt. I got up and walked out hurting. I changed out of my gear and went out. I sat down to let them rest.
Definitely going to ice them tonight. Jess came out and I tried to get up. He helped me up. "What happened?" "Landed on my knees after a bull pitched me." "I'll give you a piggyback ride to the truck."
My knees hurt way too much after that. When we got to the motel Jess went and got ice for me. I got cold bath water ran and got in. It felt better. Jess knocked on the door. "I'll fix you ice packs they'll be in the freezer. I'm going to go fuel up and get something to eat do you want anything?"
"Depends on where your going." "Sonic." "An Oreo blast and a dark chocolate milkshake. You can have the cherry if you want." "Ok I'll be back in a few minutes." I heard the door close and I got out.
I got into my Brother's shirt and underwear then went over to the freezer and got the ice packs. I flipped on the tv and iced my knees.
Jess came in about thirty minutes later and handed me what I wanted. He massaged my knees as I ate my blast. I let him have the rest of it and downed my milkshake.
He did eat the cherry whiching I don't care because I don't like them. He got a shower and I curled up in bed. My knees were numb and I took ibuprofen to help with the pain.
I dozed off before he was even done showering. The bed dipped as he got in it. If I sleep late it's because of all those other sleepless nights I've had. "Nicky you can sleep in the truck as I'm driving to my house if you like."
I nodded when he finished.
The next morning Jess woke me up and had me get dressed. I did and we got breakfast for the road. He told me we were going to his house until Saturday. It was fine by me. As he said I did fall asleep on the way to his place.
