"My whole life is lead to this. Time to test my skills. I know I just can't miss. Gonna show the world! Born to be the winner!"

Alya's PoV

I sat next to Serena on a wooden bench as we watched Ash's pokémon battle. It was very interesting watching Ash battle, as he did not follow any strategies. It proved amusing to watch him improvise in tight situations.

We were interrupted on our way to Snowbelle City by a friend of Ash's and the gang's named Sawyer. He was a calculating boy with green hair and blue eyes. He was a bit younger than us, but that didn't matter much.

Clemont was refereeing their pokémon battle, and Bonnie stood beside Serena and I. The boys were on their last pokémon out of three. Sawyer's Shelgon was defeated by Hawlucha, and his Honedge was defeated by Pikachu. Sawyer sent out his last pokémon; a Sceptile. At the sight of the large, grass-lizard pokémon, I got to my feet and went over to stand very close to the side line of the battle field. I didn't like to pick favorites, but Sceptile was one of my very few favorites. I have one myself, but he was with Professor Sycamore. Sceptile was the first pokémon I've ever mega evolved.

Ash sent out his Greninja, an odd choice considering the type disadvantage. I shrugged, knowing that made no difference to Ash. He liked pushing his pokémon to their limits, no matter the circumstances. I placed my hands on my hips, ready to see how this battle would play out.

It didn't take too long for Sawyer to figure out Ash's battling style with Greninja and counter it. Ash used Greninja's speed to get in close and keep Sceptile from attacking too much. Although, with a well timed Leaf Blade and Dragon Pulse attack, Greninga was sent back, giving Sceptile the distance it needed.

"Keep pushing! Leaf Storm!" Sawyer called out. Sceptile obeyed and sent out a tornado full of sharp leaves that sucked Greninja right up. Greninja was immobilized, rendered useless by the grass attack. "Alright, Sceptile. Let's wrap this up." Sceptile slammed Greninja to the ground, a cloud of dust rising up.

When Greninja got up, I felt something in the air shift. I felt a rush of energy emitting from both Ash and Greninja. I watched closely, biting my nails. Greninja was suddenly encompassed in a large vortex of water. Some of his features changing, making them longer and red. I gasped. As far as I knew, Greninja wasn't capable of mega evolving. A-and Ash didn't have a keystone... This wasn't possible.

"Greninja, Aerial Ace!" In just that one move, Sceptile was thrown into a cement wall behind Sawyer. That one hit, rendered it unconscious. My eyes widened. I had never in my entire life seen anything like this. The water around Greninja disappeared when Clemont announced him and Ash the winners. The two of them then sunk to the ground.

"So, Ash. You gotta tell me what just happened. How did you do whatever you just did. Fill me in," Sawyer asked, a little notebook in his hands. I finally regained my composure and rushed over to Ash and helped him up. I nodded my head, agreeing with Sawyer. I needed  to know what happened.

"I don't really know what I did. Stuff just flashes in front of my eyes when I get like that," Ash tried to explain. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"I see. Wait, no I don't!" Sawyer shouted in frustration. It cause me to laugh and release the tension I felt in my shoulders from watching the battle. Although, this was a topic I would definitely revisit later on with Ash.
